I bought a 96 Mustang for my 16 year old son to drive. I liked it so much that I am driving it alot. On the highway it seems like some fumes are getting into the car was there ever a problem with this vintage mustang? Also my odometer quit working so does anyone have any idea's on that?

I cool weather (AZ) it's really hard to shift out of P first thing in the AM. Pressing on brake really hard or moving the steering well a lot will finally release the shifter. When car is warmed up it's OK. Something out of alignment or needs grease in the interconnecting device? Thoughts?

#2107 of 2124 diy tune up by snarly

Mar 02, 2010 (8:18 pm)

I am looking for information regarding a diy tune up on my 2003 3.8L V6 coupe. It has approximately 120k and has treated me well thus far.

What all is included in a tune up (just plugs and wires)? What are the specs for the gap in the plugs?

Also, I have a K&N air filter...can I clean and reuse it or should it be replaced as well?

Thanks so much for the info...I am truly a "dumb blonde."

I have a 94 gt 5.0 and i noticed that the lower grade gas the motor does not perform the way it should and it pings. but the higher grade it runs well with no pinging use the higher grade fuel.

#2111 of 2124 buying a 2001 mustang by kraftwagen

Apr 27, 2010 (8:09 pm)

I'm considering to buy a Mustang, 2001 model, has run over 85K miles.
It will be great if I know, few questions that are popped up in my head now.
Does the timing belt need to be changed around this time? What is the ideal miles it would have to be changed and what would be the cost of it?
Are there any other factors that i need to consider before going for it in terms of maintenance?

Any suggestions will be highly helpful.

Mustangs use timing chains, not belts so no worries there.

Not that I'm aware of other than the usual stuff. Might get more details from a mustang specific website.
