I checked with the top brass today, so don't shoot the messenger. Edmunds.com does not cover this aspect of the automotive industry, so devoting an entire board to it would not be conducive to its focus on auto consumers buying/selling issues. However, you are more than welcome to create discussions concerning NASCAR, speed channel, motorsports, etc. here in News & Views. KarenS Senior Host Owners Clubs |

DOH! oh well, guess I'll go find my racing fix somewhere else then |

Since N&V is kind of a catch all board, motorsports (being automotive) will be fair game. Let's be clear though...
Let's not have a TON of topics cropping up. We don't need a topic list that looks like this:
#24
#3
#17
...etc
Maybe we should simply make a "Motorsports" topic and let that one wander all over the sport
What do you think?

Would Edmunds be willing to allow maybe 4-5 boards (ie - NASCAR, Cart, Indy, F1, Rally)? The reason I ask is it could turn ugly pretty fast with some of the devotees of one style of racing railing on another. To me, Edmunds allows us to gravitate and involve ourselves in boards that interest us individually. If a board is to broad we are encouraged to start another board for comparison purposes or problem areas. This allows the flow of conversation on the regular board to continue. If we only have one board for racing I don't think this would happen. |

As has been pointed out, Edmunds doesn't cover motorsports. You generally won't even find anything in the News section of Edmunds relating to motorsports.
If fans of different styles of racing are going to go after each other (not "real" racing, only making lefts, etc) and things get out of hand, then the idea is doomed from the start. There are other sites online where that is more appropriate.
If we start making different topics for different forms of racing, I have no doubt that we'll start getting topics for different drivers or teams or currnet racing issues. It's just the way things tend to go. We have 100 topics displayed on the page here. When new topics crop up, things get pushed to a second page where they tend to wither and die (out of site, out of mind), so they have to be archived. Not that the different motorsports discussions wouldn't be interesting, but every motorsports topic is going to push an Edmunds content related discussion into hibernation and that's not really something that we want to do.
We talk about a LOT of stuff here on N&V that you might classify as "vaguely automotive" in nature (Road signs, road conditions, etc) so a motorsports discussion is certainly not out of the question. Open up a general motorsports topic and have at it, but I'm afraid we really can't let things flourish and expand the way they would on a board devoted to racing.

| at the bottom of news and views page one, I see the last post in the last topic was april 14th. As you can see, it doesnt take a second page for a topic to die. | |

That's kinda my fault, wishn. I usually send those babies to the archives, but I've been lax... so flog me! kirstie_h Roving Host Edmunds.com |

Hey guys, there's a post on the Chrysler 300M board that needs to be deleted. It was left about 9:26 PST. The person who left it also has an offensive nickname. Thanks Mike |
