Tranny update and another soft-rant on the durn seat controls by rollbar

My transmission, along with the other one (from an M), were sent to Japan. The US techs were disappointed since they wanted to work on them but the techs in Japan trumped 'um. Dealer says they now have another M with the same problem; but no G35’s other then mine. Story of my life.

New tranny is also banging into 3rd from 2nd but not as hard now, nor as frequently. Dealer says they will do whatever is needed if it gets any worse.

Was in for a wheel alignment and drove a G35 sedan for the day. I swear, the seat controls on the right bolster are no issue in the sedan. I repeat, they don't bother me a bit in the sedan. In my coupe however, they are intrusive. I feel the pressure of the plastic control panel on my right thigh all the time.

Now what could be the difference? Could folks get a swap on the drivers seat from a sedan and solve the problem?

New topic for me: brakes by rollbar

I have a 2006 G35 Coupe with about 12500 miles on the odo.

Car is developing a new brake symptom. When I release the brakes, as at a traffic light, they grunt as they let go. Don't know how else to describe it. It's as if the calipers stick a bit when the rotors start to turn and then let go.

No other sounds or symptoms. No grinding, pulling, pulsing, squeaking, or spongy pedal.

Roll

The grunting is annoying though.

The brakes on these cars suck. I have 40 thousand on mine and have already had the brakes replaced and they are making noise again already. Sister's car has 90 thousand and she has had hers done a couple of times. And in the mean time my red paint just keeps flaking off.

Mine make a "Thunk" (like the brake caliper hangs) when it rains or very heavy moisture in the air. However, no other symptoms as roolbar said.

However, the "Thunk" is truely annoying. (I love all the Onomatopoeia!)

Have you had any progress in solving your paint problems through Infiniti? I have had the problem with chippng paint on the hood. Infiniti says it is from rocks which is not the case. I am contacting attorneys to file a suit against Infiniti and would like to know if you have made any progress. This is a world wide problem and Infiniti should be punished for not handling this honestly with their customers. Please email me if you have any info you can share with me. Thanks, Mark

No, I have not. After many phone calls and letters and talking to representatives, they refused.
The paint still chips badly. It has taken the fun out of owning the car.
Mechanically it is great. I was at the dealership a few weeks ago and they know my complaints well. They went out of their way to tell me the new paint Infiniti is using is better, which to me was an admission of the poor quality.
However, I have given up.I will never buy another Infiniti or Nissan again and I have steered many people away from buying this brand. In Canada we do not have a "lemon law".

REV Gauge by tnvol1111

Probably a silly question but my dealership can't answer it for me. I have a 2005 G35 Coupe 6MT and there is a REV gauge at the top of the instrument panel that has NEVER been on even once until yesterday. It now has a flashing bright RED light that I guess is supposed to tell you when to shift gears but is VERY irritating and quite distracting seeing a flashing RED light in my drivers field of vision.

This has never once been on in 3 years now. How on earth do I get this to go off? There isn't any mention of this in the owners manual and dealership isn't sure why it came on just now after 36 months of ownership nor how to get it to go off.

I have an 07 Sedan, and it's not a manual, so I don't have a REV light.
I did a little digging around though and found that that light is programmable. I believe it's set by default to 8,000 RPMs and this may be why you have never seen it.
It may be set, who knows how, to a lower value now and this is why it's on and driving you crazy.
All of the posts I have found on various sites in regards to the REV light say that the instructions for setting it are in the manual.
I don't have the manual, so you're gonna have to dig that info out yourself.

Hope this helps!
