I'm not Steve but I'll give you a little input from practical experience.

LHD: You get used to it very quickly. So used to it that if you take it to Europe, you'll feel as though you're on the wrong side of the road!

Size: You get used to it very quickly! If you've ever hired a non-HGV type lorry/truck to move house you'll know what I mean. By the time you take it back, you're driving it like a car.

MPG: You get used to it very quickly!! (i) You have no choice. (ii) 14 MPG (US gallons) translates to 16.8 MPG (UK gallons) which makes it easier to bear.

BMW as 2nd car: Depends on your finances I guess.

Whatever, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Cheers for the opinions Mac24. That's what I figured.I reckon I've got a pretty good deal (2004 Hemi Sport SLT with plenty of bells and whistles for £26k ready to drive away looks good compared to prices offered by other importers advertising on Autotrader's site) so thought I'd jump in with 2 feet and have a go.

What do you drive?

Ouch, they're expensive in the UK - near $45K USD. I'm curious, because I've never, ever seen such a pickup as a daily driver in the UK. How do these fare on the streets of Birmingham (or Leicester or Derby... don't know whether you're E or W Midlands)? It'd be pretty difficult if you lived near London.

Just think a little more laterally. Although very different in appearance to most other vehicles, it's similar in track, wheelbase, and overall size to many small commercial vehicles.......... which clock up many more miles, road hours, and time parked on the street, than the average 'daily driver'.

It's more a problem of perception than anything else.

P.S. Everything except food is expensive in the UK............ where I can buy Florida grapefruit of better quality and more cheaply than here in FL!

I drive an F150 and a Wrangler at the moment, with a Ram 3500 in my future (I think). However, at present I'm not in the UK, I'm in the Sunshine State dodging hurricanes (I guess someone has to do it!).

My brother is trying to purchase one of these trucks but seems to be having a hard time to find one. I was just wondering if they are this hard to find all the time.

Depends on the market, the dealer, and the configuration of the truck. A small dealer won't have the same allocation as a mega-dealer in a large metro area. A rare set of options also will be difficult to find.

If he's willing to wait about 2 months, your brother is much better off ordering a truck exactly the way he wants it equipped. This is too much money to make compromises. My previous two trucks were off the lot, and I didn't have them more than 4 years. I ordered my 1996 Ram Cummins dually exactly to my specs, and I've now had it 8 1/2 years and 120,000 miles. Its replacement, a 2005 Ram Cummins dually, will also be ordered in about a month.

Problem with 2005 Ram Delivery by airbearma

I ordered a 2005 Ram back in mid May because the factory stopped taking orders on the 2004's at this time. My dealer said the order would probably make it in in early July and that the truck would probably come in during the end of August or early Sept.

In mid August, my dealer got the VIN of my new truck from Dodge and within a few days he received confirmation (that he also showed me) that the Ram would be shipped on Aug 26.

After waiting week after week, I went ballistic on my dealer yesterday. He was told by Dodge that all 2005 Rams are being held back for some kind of recall. (Might explain why no 2005 Rams have shipped yet...)

Does anyone know what this "recall" is all about and whether Dodge will ever start shipping Rams again before the 2006 model year is upon us??? I know that my dealer is not yanking my chain.

I haven't heard anything about a recall.

Normally RAMs don't start hitting dealers lots around here until late October anyways.

Best regards,
Dusty

Dealers around me (north NJ) have had 05s since late August, and stock seems to be changing by their online inventories. My specific dealer where I bought my 96 (and where I will order my 05) has seven 1500s and 15 2500s in stock right now.

If you have a VIN, call Dodge Customer Service and ask for the status of your vehicle. They should be able to tell you where your truck is and when it should get to you, as well as any holds or delays.

Known option delays are the sunroof and adjustable pedals - if you ordered either of those, it may be held up for that.
