Roof rack cross rails, for Schip1 by fmunoz1069

You have to remove the roof rack from the vehicle. There are 6 screws on each track that you have to unscrew then the whole rack comes off, stand the rack on it end and press the buttons on the cross rails and slide them down to the end of the tracks. When you go to put the tracks back on the vehicle be careful you do not strip the screw, they are a fine thread and easy to do (i almost did). I cut down the wind noise a little by removing them. Any more questions let me know...

Sorento first try!!! by anonymous02

I sat in a Sorento last night for the first time. VERY NICE!

I liked the quality. I liked the styling, both interior and exterior. I was satisfied with rear seat room, and cargo space.

My only gripe was (IS!) that I can't fit in the darn thing!!! What a bummer! I really really like this truck, but my head hits the roof and the seat could go back maybe another inch or so. The model I tried was loaded with leather and sunroof, so maybe I could try one with just the leather or cloth seats and see how that fits me. What a disappointment!

I forgot if I asked here before or not, are these available with a front bench seat?

By the way, the colors were gold and beige or something like that. Very handsome, at least at night.

lok888... I read your post on the Sorento problem section and I agree it is pretty strange that no where in the book does it mention the bulb type just the wattage. I guess if a bulb goes out you have to remove the bulb then take it to get a replacement. Also has anyone noticed this, or is it me and I am not seeing it. On most cars I have owned or been in that have fog lamps there is an indicator to let you know that they are on. I don't see anything in the sorento that does this.
I have been waiting for two weeks on a question I wrote to Kia on wether the leather seats are all leather as the dealer thinks they are or just the inserts on the top and back of the seats. Reason is that some leather conditioners do not work well on vinyl. Anyone have any ideas.
Any opinions. We should write up a wish list to Kia to tell them that as they improve on the Sorento to include some of the customer feed back they get.
Thanks

hicaffa - Thanks for listening. I guess we have to take the light bulbs out to see what type is it. The owner's manual also has a lot of recommendation, warning and driving tips. There is no fog lamp indicator (which car has that?) but the fog light switch is on the turn signal/headlamp stick. I found the fog light will turn off when you flash (or turn on) the high beam. And you can't just turn on the fog light without turn the headlight on. Don't know why! It looks like you can't get more light on dark, remote or off-road area.
Leather - I can smell the leather on the seating surface and the door panel. Yeah!! But I don't feel leather on the back and side of the seats. For me, they should also use vinyl on the headliner. It is easy to clean than the cloth. I have beige Sorento with beige leather interior. Soon or later the seat color will become tan. What do you use for leather cleaning and polishing? I will also add an active auto alarm (possible with car starter) for more security and insurance rate discount. The alarm system should be standard or factory opinion. I think Santa Fe LX has one.

Leather & Fog Lights by schip1

hciaffa, for my opinion about what is covered in leather, please see #1154. I agree with you about the lack of a fog lights indicator. I also wish the Sorento has one. But then, I hardly notice any difference when they are turned on! Although haven't driven in any fog yet...just rainstorms.

lok888, I could be wrong, but I don't think the door panels are lined in leather. Is it possible the 'leather smell' is actually the tanning or dyeing solution?

schip1 - If this is not leather on the door panel, they must did a better job on that make it feels and looks like leather. So, anyone has a suggestion for leather care product yet? Armor All has the wipes for leather seat cleaning. And it looks easy to use. Do you think the heated seat only works when you sit on it? I turn on the heated seat switch for the passenger's side with no one sit on it. I touched the seat and it was cool. I sat on it for few minutes. And I felt heat on my bottom.
Also, did you figure out how to remove the cross bars and adding a safety device for your garage door? On some minivans and SUV, you have to remove the end caps by screwdriver and slide the cross bars to the end. You normally can't just remove the cross bars by press the release buttons or turn a knob. This is not safe.

Anybody else find the headroom lacking with or without sunroof?

Thanks in advance.

I'll take a closer look at the door panel lining when I get home tonight. And I'll also check out the heating for the front seats.

Regarding the removal of the cross rails, yes...fmunoz1069 explained it (thanks again!) and I found those 6 screws. By 'safety device' for my garage door, do you mean an infra-red beam? No, we don't have that feature.

Has anyone figured out how to get this out of the multimeter. The Kia spec sheet says it's included with the other functions (alt. baro, compass), but the manual indicates it may not be.
