Placeman...On getting spare keys, I will have to try again at another locksmith. The ones I went to couldn't match it to any other auto keys they had, maybe they didn't care.
On the rear window getting messy. not to be anal but this is a SUV and with any rear window that is almost verticle to the rear bumper (as in SUV's, hatchbacks and station wagons to which I have owned a few of these in the past years ) the back window will get dirty from the overspray from the rear tires.. the dirt and rainny road crap will come back onto the window. Make sure that if your window is dirty, that you wipe with the washer on to help wet down the window. Sometimes it could scratch the rear window when it isn't wet enough. Aslo most auto manufacturers offer a rear window air deflector to grab the air coming across the top of the vehicle and bring it down across the rear window. Kia dosen't have one yet for the Sorento and the spoiler is just for show and slight function. Next time when you see a Lexus RX300 check the spoiler. It is a combo spoiler and deflector allowing the air to flow down the window.
lok888 ...If and when I can get info the homelink on their accessories I will post.
jmpats2000.. thanks I will try their site on the Auto mate alarm

Seatbelt warning light by lok888

schip1, hicaffa, mikesf and other Sorento owners -I just drove my Sorento to my Kia dealer to check the seatbelt warning light Saturday. It won't come on when the seatbelt is not worn. BTW, the service was great at Quirk Kia (Braintree, MA). My car was ready within 15 minutes. They first couldn't figure out what is wrong. Then they called the sales (sales and service is a mile apart) and learned all other Sorentos does the same thing. At the end, they wrote something like "normal condition unless the seatbelt is malfunction the light will comes on". I want to know about this to you Sorento. BTW, the door and hatch lights will come on when they are not close.
Again, it's a great service and pleasant experience there. They are very serious about the Sorento. No problem at all.

Things to be improved by lok888

It has been a quite day. I just can't stop talking about my Sorento. It is a very good SUV for less. However, there are some existing features need to be improved. There are my suggestions for Kia. (A) Power driver's seat switch too close to the door panel. Power passenger's seat will be nice too. (B) More storage space for the glove box and underneath the cargo. (C) Relocation for the front 12V power outlet. (D) Seatbelt warning light, when seatbelt is not worn. (E) Headlights (marker lights)reminder or chime sound for non-luxury. (F) Remote fuel door release. (G) In-glass or roof mounted radio anntenna. I want to say more folks. But it will push it to a $30K or more SUV.

schip1 - Thank you for checking. I don't think I can control house lights with this Homelink feature on my Sorento. I am glad that you are alright when hitting the Homelink button by accident. when cleaning the rearveiw mirror. BTW, your garage door should have some kind of child safety device, like pitch protection.

Folks, do you have any problems when using an aftermarket key as a spare key?The owner's manual and my service guys are not recommend the using of aftermarket key. It may not return to "On" position after "Start". And will harm the ignition. They mentioned some chips with code inside the factory key. Isn't it true?

I do remember the number on the odometer when I picked up my car last week. But I estimate 12.5 mpg for both city and highway driving. The number is so low properly I warm up my car few minutes in the morning, stop & go traffic in the city and during the run in period. My car should get 15 mpg after the run in period. It is still low. The EPA estimated the annual fuel cost is about $1400 for Sorento.
