Hey, those were nice vans. Most of them had that sign on them that said, "Don't come knockin", etc. Is that you in the middle? Looks like it might be Easter?

It's me on the end - I'm the oldest child in the family.
That van might as well have had such a sign. It had a sink & fridge in the middle, and a bench seat in back that folded flat. It was a repo that my dad got a deal on.

Date stamp in the corner says August '84, so no idea what the occasion was. Of course in our family, it wouldn't be out of the question that that photo was taken at Easter and the film not developed until August.

"There's nothing like the soothing melody of "Bridge over Troubled Water" with a track change mid-song."

And pain is all around (clack clack) like a bridge over (clack clack) troubled water (clack clack)...

Yeah, I remember 8 track....

I was going to guess Easter.

My first new car in '77 came with just an AM radio.. Off to the local car stereo installer for a Pioneer Super tuner AM/FM 8-Track.

I actually know how to fix 8-track tapes...another useless talent!

There are still some Olivia Newton-John, Ronnie Milsap and (surprise!) Anne Murray 8-track tapes packed away somewhere in my Mom's basement! They were last played in November 1985. That's when she traded in her '77 Cutlass Supreme for an '86 Cutlass Supreme rwith one of those new-fangled cassette players! And it had velour interior that was the same color as a blood clot! =)

Now she's got Bose 11-speaker Surround Sound with SIRIUS and a 6-CD changer and I'm still trying to show her how to work it! And, thank God, she has beige leather with chocolate accents rather than a color you should only see during an autopsy! Those were dark days...

Got new car insurance all lined up with Metlife from a great agent at an unbelievable quote...some others were just past ridiculous and from major players too! It's a 1 year policy so we'll be locked in till mid February 2014 and can pay by credit card. Good deal all way around! Yay!!

C'mon...I can't believe no one commented on my last posting yet...meanwhile, I can't get this song out of my head....

"We'll be shadows in the moonlight, darling I'll meet you after midnight..."

Ya know, I always thought Anne Murray seemed a bit...well, I'll just say that I've always gotten the vibe that she has more in common with KD Lang than just being Canadian! =) When I read that she was a high school gym teacher prior to her singing career, I had to laugh....not that there's anything wrong with that! =)

There just aren't any lesbian Canadian Country singers around these days...I wonder if they'll eventually send us a few more? =)

Second City TV did a hilarious spoof on Anne Murray.

RE: Insurance.....

Did we ever reach a consensus on the age old question: "At what point do I cancel the comp/collision on my old car?"

As my own car depreciates, and I look at the not-inconsiderable insurance bill every year, I'm beginning to ask that question of myself.

A lot of companies won't sell you a towing rider unless you have comprehensive and collision coverage. Naturally when your car is too old to be worth insuring for comp/collision is when you are most likely to need it.
