We bought our Nubira in 2003 and it had very low mileage; 28,000 at the time. It now has over 40,000 miles on it and we are very, very pleased with it! It has had a pull to the right as the transmission torques up, usually around 30 - 45mph depending on how hard we're pushing acceleration. It's not the tires or alignment, weirdest thing I've ever experienced!

A common problem on the Nubira model is the rubber bushings for the front control arms go bad every 40K miles or so. Ours lasted 70K miles. But eventually the bushings will go bad. On each control arm there are 4 bushings. Usually the front ones are the ones that go bad. That is the reason for the pull. If you have trouble getting the parts, email me and I will direct you to the dealer I go to and you can get them shipped. There is 2 ways you can fix this, either replace the control arms totally or just replace the bushings. Replacing the bushings is less expensive, and it might be worthwhile if you can get some higher grade aftermarket polyurethane bushings instead of the standard rubber ones. Depends how long you plan to keep the car. The OEM bushings are not that expensive either.
BTW, if you have not done a timing belt service, start thinking about it now. Another common issue with the Nubira is the belt tensioner starts getting loose around 50K miles. You will start hearing a loose chain or belt sound when accelerating slowly and the car is cold. Similar to the sound when a bike chain falls off its track. If you hear that sound, timing belt service is required ASAP.
The dealer needs to replace both the timing belt and the tensioner and rollers. It might be a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time as it is driven by the timing belt, and it will be costlier if it fails shortly after the belt change (you will have to do it all over again).
 
BTW, the Nubira is identical mechanically to the Suzuki Forenza in the US. So if you cannot find a daewoo dealer, just take it to your local suzuki dealer. The Suzuki Forenza is the Nubira 3. The engine is still the same.

HI I was wondering if you came to a resolution on your miss-fire issue? I am currently having issues with My Daewoo Lanos the check engine light is on I think it is possible just Timing as it sort of stalled and restarted itself once about a week ago and I haven't had any other problems until today the CEL is on. I checked all the spark plugs, and fluids althought it needs an oil change I don't think that is the cause. The engine does not seem to be idling any different, which leads me to believe that it's not a timing issue. I was hoping you could give me a better ideal of the symptons your experiencing with your misfire issue. Any help your info you can supply would be great!! thanks for your time.

I have 84k and the timing belt just broke. I have learned that this is a usual occurrence with the Daewoo Nubira 2000. And I am wondering if there is anything else that I should anticipate or maintenance before it causes me to be on the side of the road with my son in my car.

have just purchased 2000 nubira. 37000 miles ... 3000$ ..and yes...oil in sparkplug wells....needs cam cover gasket...and front end rattling! whishbone bushings shot.
brakes also worn....ok, now reading all the posts...seems this is "normal?" Can we go get stuff from suzuki / forenza.....lower control arms or improoved bushings and engine parts and gaskets? same brake parts? or do we need to go to a dealer in canada....did find one in toronto.
