Replying to: christian11 (Oct 28, 2009 5:59 am) Start measuring some voltages, to see what is really going on at the starter connections.   Makes no sense that a starter would only start at a lower "too low" voltage.

I have a 2000 Daewoo Lanos my transmission went out. The guy that looked at says this car has a nonrepairable transmission. Is this true? If so where can I find a transmission for it. When filling up my gas tank, the gasoline pump at the station keeps shutting off within a few seconds as if the tank is full. At times the gasoline spurts out forcefully. What could be causing this to happen. I need to know where and how I can obtain a repair manual. Thanks. EM

Replying to: nativequeen39 (Oct 28, 2009 12:25 pm) Not true. Find another mechanic. This is a GM transmission used in Sunfire, Cavalier, etc.   No such thing as a "nonrepairable" transmission. Well I suppose if it melted in a fire....

My 2000 Lanos is having problems shifting. I start the car and it idles fine. Then the moment I try and put it in drive the engine cuts out and dies. If I apply the gas sometimesw it sputters nd other times it goes like it should. Once I get out of first, it shifts fine. This is an automatic. Whats my problem, besides it's a Daewoo? Replying to: chad17 (Nov 09, 2009 8:05 am) This doesn't sound like a transmission issue, but rather a driveability issue. If there are no codes stored (car should be scanned) best thing to do is look for vacuum leaks, and also clean the MAF sensor--two relatively simple DIY procedures.

My passenger electric wondow on my 2001 Lanos, is not working. I had to manually pull it up and I'm holding it up with cardboard, I believe it's the regulator but I understand there are 2-3 other possibilities - does anyone know if I can to it myself? Replying to: leo2009 (Nov 20, 2009 7:56 pm) It's not necessarily the regulator, but that's certainly a good possibility. The regulator could have loosened from the window channel that it normally lifts up----or a weld could have broken. You'd have to pop the door panel off to investigate.   Replacing the regulator is shown in the books as $55 parts and one hour labor, so that's not too bad at all.
