| Has anyone modified the lower gate so that it swings out rather than down? I'm looking at a Element to transport a power wheelchair using a Bruno lift arm. The Element would be perfect if the lower rear hatch didn't act like a tail gate. | |

Model: Honda Element LX 2006 So I recently bought one of those DC splitter that I can plug in to the DC socket so I can charge my GPS while my daughter watches video. After a few hours of driving, I notice my remote lock is not working --problem #1 (at first I thought I needed a new battery for my remote lock/entry). Then I tried opening the door using the open/close button on the side of the driver seat and it's not working (problem # 2). Now, I have to use the key every time, I want to open/close the car. I also notice on first entry the internal entry light is not coming on (problem #3). The radio is not working as well (problem #4). I noticed however when I turn on the engine, the open/close button on the side of the driver seats work including the internal entry light. But the radio is totally dead. I haven't noticed any problems with my headlights and flashers. I thought I'd also share that I jammed a pair of sneakers under the passenger seat. I noticed there are wires under there and maybe I disconnected something. I also thought it could be a fuse but strangely enough the DC socket (lighter) where I plug in my GPS and my daughter's DVD player still work. It could another fuse??? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you, MaynardHE2006LX |

So yesterday, I was on my way home and just out of the corner of my eye seen this brown blur, I hit the brakes and BOOM. I nailed a deer in the back end with the right side of my Element. Its a good thing I had the guard on, it took most of the damage. But it got hit back and broke most of the plastic panels and dented up my hood pretty bad. I talked to the guy at the auto body shop and he said it would be about $3000 for the quote and said if I didn't have the guard on it probably would have totaled the front of my Element. Stupid gigantic buck. I was only going about 40 when I slammed on the brakes and hit the buck. It is amazing the damage they can do, i am so glad I had the brush guard on.

Going home from work the other day I got distracted and ran into the rear of a dodge ram with its tailgate down. Lets just say, I tested the five star front impact rating. All the safety features worked as they should. I had one very small cut on my left hand and some brusing on my shoulder from the lap belt. The major damage to the Dodge PU was the tailgate. My Element with 3995 miles on it was totaled. The battery was crunched and battery acid got into the transaxle. Now I am waiting on the insurance company so I can settle up and get another new Element.
