| Does XM play the stern show? | |
| I was messing around with the XM radio they have at Best Buy and when using it you don't get 100 channels. The radio would skip a few numbers when srolling up. Is it because the radio was inside the store. Wait would that even matters since all the xm channels come from the same satalite? | |

You can use XM in your home probably because there is a repeater close to you. In the apartment I used to live in(when I first got XM) I could set the antenna out on the balcony and it worked fine. Where I live now, I have to set the antenna out in the yard several feet from the house for it to pick up. kbtoys, the XM channel numbers do not go from 1 to 100 exactly, they ship around as there are some in the 150 and 170 range. |

| At first I thought I was able to get XM in my garage and house because there was a repeater in the area. But I don't think that is the case because if I take the antenna off the top of my truck and hold it inside under the roof I lose the signal, or if I park on the north side of a large building. That wouldn't happen if there was a repeater. But I really don't know, all I do know is that in the house I lose the signal when the microwave oven is running! | |
| You DO get 100 channels on XM! It skips here and there but the channels go up into the 100's. XM comedy is on channel 150 for example. They left some channels open for further expansion of the system and possibly for pay per listen events, like a live concert or something. If you still don't believe me go here http://www.xmradio.com/programming/full_channel_listing.jsp?sort=number and count the stations available. If there were not 100 channels don't you think they would be in court by now for false advertising?! | |

I can't see PAYING for radio service! In fact, I was thinking of ditching the cable TV. Wasn't the big draw there that there were supposed to be no commercials? There are already plenty of station to listen to. I can see it if you live in Alaska or Siberia maybe... |
|
| Yes, I GLADLY pay for radio service! We may have alot of stations here, but unless you like the generic bubble gum top 40 pop stuff, your out of luck when it comes to commercial radio. Some XM stations are commercial free and I've found the ones that do have commercials have no where near the amount of commercials that FM radio does. And the commercials are generally from their sponsors and not those super annoying screaming car dealer ads. May commercial radio RIP in my opinion as they have dug their own grave. Satellite radio is just in it's infancy now, I can only imagine where it will be in 5 years or so. As much as I like XM, I'm looking forward to seeing what Sirius has to offer once they get fully online. Wouldn't it be great to be able to switch between XM and Sirius rather than FM and AM. | |

If you live in a large metropolitan area, you likely have a good selection of radio broadcasts. But there are a lot of us who don't live in or near large cities and I can assure you that the radio selection is a couple of notches below dismal! In any case, you do have more choices with XM. As for cable, I don't recall "no commercials" as being a selling point. It was about choice. tidester Host SUVs |

| Again, the big draw for cable was not no commercials, but expanded programming. I'd trash my Proscan TV if all I had to watch was ABC, NBC, CBS, WB, and Fox. BARF!! | |
