Here is the exact wording from the Dodge parts catalog about the legality of the mods.

"Not legal for sale on pollution-controlled vehicles or vehicles registered for highway use."

SRT-4 Vs PT Cruiser GT by norrmanndo

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the main differences are between the two. I know the SRT-4 is faster and lighter. Do they have the same engine? Transmissions etc. It's kind of interesting that two very different cars, that appeal to different drivers, share the basic chassis.

Well it looks like it might be a good time to buy. Archer Dodge in Houston has 12 SRT-4s and is selling for 1% below invoice. Sounds like a good price to me!

Went to two Dodge dealerships this weekend one had 12 SRT-4s and the other had 10. Both were willing to sell for 1% under invoice?

What's the deal? Why sooooo many?

How is Dodge relability? WShould there be any concern for the turbo relaibility?

It was onwe fast car

Thanks,
MidCow

I was surprised. Pretty much all red circles or half circles. A recommended buy. The 2004 models should be as good or better.

Dodge Interiors? by nyccarguy

I really like the styling of the SRT-4, especially the wheels and front air dam. I love turbos and have a lot of respect for the 230hp being pumped out from the 4-cyl. The LSD is definitely a plus for putting all that power to the front wheels. The price of the SRT-4 is incredible too.

I drive an '01 Prelude which would get its doors, trunk, hood, and everything else blown off by an SRT-4.

How are the SRT-4's interior materials? I'm just curious.

You might want to look a little closer at the SR-T before you compare it to the Prelude. Especially in interior quality and design. The Prelude was built with a few other priorities than just to be a platform for an engine.

2005 SRT-4 by racefan

I'm starting to kick a few tires in order to replace my 2001 Intrepid ES. I sold my 95 Mustang GT last summer so I'm looking for a smallish 4 door car that goes like stink. I test drove a 2003 SRT-4 the other day and, except for the Viperish seats, enjoyed the experience.

I also drove a 2004 Mazda6s w/ 5 speed, not impressed with low end power. Everything else seemed ok. Also drive a 2005 Altima 3.5 SE with automatic (no 5 speed was available). It seemed ok but I'm only interested in a 5 speed. Apparently these are very difficult to get.

Any word on when the 2005 SRT-4 is due out? Any word on (or links about) changes from the 2004 model year? Especially with respect to power changes and factory power rear windows.

I'd like to get a new car sooner rather than later but I don't mind waiting a bit to get a better vehicle.

Thanks.

Rick

I'm not looking to replace my Prelude by any means. Just asking questions.

Steve - the upgrade issues by kevin111

- Comming from the WRX forum, the Subaru and dealer sold upgrades have a very similiar disclaimer.
As the people on this board have indicated this is wording by Dodge's lawyers to protect Dodge from responsibility if your car does not meet the state's environmental specs as a result of the upgrades. Also means that Dodge has no other responsibility from mis-use of the upgrades as well.

With that said, I would expect many Dodge dealers to sell the upgrades anyway (even install them) since this disclaimer means they can use the "track racing" excuse.
Talk to your dealer, or one that offers these power upgrades.

For performance for the price the SRT-4 is a bargain.
