I have a question for Baja and SVX owners: do you find it hard to get parts? The reason I ask is that I am looking at buying a Tribeca and looking at the sales figures I’m not too sanguine about its future. I’ve owned two vehicles in my life that turned out to be not very accepted by the masses and parts became an issue. Especially since I tend to hold on to my cars for a decade or more.

I've had no problems with my 06 Turbo. Nor did I have any with my 04. Don't forsee any problems in the future either

No problems with my 92 SVX when I had it. Not a lot of aftermarket parts but stockers were relatively easy to get.
 
The great thing about the subies is that on the newer cars, 90% of the stuff is overlapping with at least 1 if not 2 other models. So parts are easy to interchange.

I live in Hawaii on the Big Island. I have just started to notice a sloshing noise in what seems my door panels. And as like all the other post after driving it around the noise is gone, I guess the water has drained out. Today I thought I'll look under the car and noticed some plugs under the door panels. After moving these plugs around some water just drained out of them. Does anyone know why these plugs are there and can they just be removed with out any problems?

I have been researching a purchase of a 2006 Baja and have looked at several of them on dealers lots. I noted that some of them have a "whip" antenna above the drivers door while others have a stubby rubber antenna center/rear of the roof.
 
Can anyone explain why the same model-year would have 2 different antenna locaitons?
 
Are there other less-visible differences with the 2006 model-year?

I found an answer to my own question...
 
The whip antenna above drivers-door is on model with normally-asperated engine.
 
The stubby rubber antenna center/rear of the roof signifies turbocharged engine.

I know this is an old string but I thought I'd give an update on a new option I found. I've been a trico neoform guy for a while now but this time I tried 'trico tech beam blades' for the subaru baja. They just came out in late 2009 and what's cool is they have a new, lower, slighty off-set attachment mounting that allows the wiper arms to sit slightly lower. The trico techs are also beefy as hell and look awesome with the lower mounts. They wipe clean and quietly without chatter. Came with removal and replacement instructions - easy install. Picked them up online.

I too have tried out the new-fangled "beam blades" from several manufacturers. Personally, I bought 4 of these new-fangled "beam blades" at about $12 each. With tax that came out to about $50 JUST FOR WIINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES!!
 
I am sad to say that they are not well suited for winter-weather use. It is all too easy to bump them while using the snowbrush to clean off the windsheild. The plastic "endcaps" tend to break off... then the entire blade becomes unstable and may come out of the housing. (my wife and I have been using a snowbrush for over 25 years so I know it was not the fault of our snowbrush-skills - LOL)
 
Unfortunately, they all busted as I described above, they dont wipe any 'better' than standard blades and dont last any longer either. I have decided that my money is better spent elsewhere until they perfect the new-fangled "beam blades".
