How long is the line? Do people really camp out to buy?

Simple Question by j124

When Edmunds has "Incentives Available" at the bottom of its pricing information, does that mean that the incentive is additional to the TMV shown, or does the TMV already include it?

When there is a cash rebate, Edmunds shows the TMV, then, for example, "- $1000" below it, then the reduced price that includes the cash rebate. With a dealer incentive, it just states that the incentive is available, but it's not clear if the TMV is including that already.

Thanks.

General rule:

Customer cash rebates are not reflected in TMV..

Lower selling prices via dealer incentives are reflected in TMV..

Thank you for taking the time to tell this experience. You have brought benefit to me in many ways here, one of which was to learn what TMF means on a Toyota invoice (Toyota Marketing Fee)!

PLEASE send a copy of your posted letter to the Attorney General of the state of Texas. I have just sent a report about Toyota of Plano (TX) and hope it will do some good. Texas has heavily regulated the real estate business. They need to do the same thing with the car dealerships because these seem to feel free to do to you and others the very experience you describe herein. It has to stop! But it won't unless we speak loud and clear to the powers that be. Maybe when the time comes that your Camry needs replacing, the Deceptive Trade Practices statutes will be tougher on these dealerships. Here's the address as it appears online:

There's really no line because only one (or two) person can get this deal. The ad is always posted on Long Beach's Press Telegram every Saturday, so try to buy one before 7:00 AM, and then arrive at the dealership before 8:00 AM, before their 9:00 AM opening time. There's always something surprising every week at Hooman Toyota.

New 2009 Toyota Camry LE, 4 cylinder, Automatic Transmission, Base by cam2008

I want to buy a New 2009 Toyota Camry LE, 4 cylinder, Automatic Transmission, Base. The best quote I got from the local dealers is $18,280 (after rebate and discount) + TTL + fees. The OTD price is about $20120. I live in Silicon Valley, our local tax is 8.25%. Is that a good deal? I want to negotionate to $19100 OTD, below Edmund's invoice price: $19,376. Is it reasonable? Will the dealer be pissed off?

Are you not including the destination charge ($720) in your Edmund's invoice price? For curiosity, I ran the Pricing Report for Cupertino (since you said Silicon Valley) and the invoice price is shown as $20,096, $720 above your invoice amount.

Edmunds TMV is $19,633 and you are being offered $18,280, or $1353 under TMV. If TMV has any meaning as an average price, then doesn't that mean you are getting a good deal?

Just trying to understand how these things work.

19100 otd is a excellent price...the best pricing I've gotten was 21.5k otd from bay area dealers. Did you opt in for the $1500 cash rebate or 0% financing to get quoted the 19100 otd price? Thanks.
