Based on what some NC dealers are quoting me you should be able to buy a 2009 4 door LE Camry (automatic transmission) for $18500 plus tax and tags (no doc fees). A dealer e-mailed me today to see if that would earn my business. I should be able to get out the door for $19100 (our car taxes are 3% in NC). Dealers will definitely waive doc fees, but you have to push like crazy to get them to do it. I'm getting close to pulling the trigger. The $1500 rebate is in effect until January 5th I believe.

goheels2: You say the $1500 rebate is in effect until Jan. 5. Edmunds does not currently show any rebate or incentive for Toyota. Can you provide a link that shows the $1500 rebate? Thanks.

TNToyota: I'm not sure if the dealer is upfront with you about showing the invoice but I do know that between July and now the MSRP for a Camry LE with automatic did go up about $300 - I bought one back then and kept the Edmunds price estimate. However, despite this increase, the Edmunds TMV has gone down a little over the same time.

As I mentioned in my other posting, I have an offer that is basically at Edmunds invoice price. I think I can do better and am trying to get more information.

One thing to add and need to warn you readers (a new dealer trick I found). Not only that the ad price Camrys are the oldest batch, many test-driven miles, and overstocked color on the lot, but the dealer gives the ad price Camry to the buyer with the poorest fit and finish quality available at their lot, making your risk if your Camry is a lemon much higher. You will need to be alert in finding flaws in workmanship quality if the price is too good to be true, especially the Indiana-made ones (they are the worst I have seen). Went to Power Toyota to look at their last ad price black Camry, assembled in Indiana, while waiting for an oil change for my rare, Japanese-made 2009 Camry, and this is what I saw: 1. Driver's door is very hard to close completely, 2. Driver's side A/C ventilation slot does not lock at all (defective) while adjusting and ends up rolling around and landed on the top, 3. Center console cover does not seal completely and will make a lot of rattle noise, 4. Looking inside the hood, some idiot at the factory marked the engine with a white chalk as a V4 as opposed to a I4 (he should be fired), 5. One of the interior plastic trim fits is left with more than 1/2 inch gap off. 6. I found one loose screw on the dashboard underneath the driver's pedal. With all these flaws and the final inspectors failed to notice these embarrassing easy-to-spot flaws, chances are there will be more problems ending this vehicle a lemon in the end. Good luck with the buyer who drives this car home who has no ability to spot flaws in workmanship.

My last question: Is that possible to get a Camry LE automatic at Edmunds invoice price at all?

They told me they would lose money if they sold the car at Edmunds invoice price.

Here it is - just fill in your zip code:

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2009/toyota/camry/100975558/incentives.html?vdp=off&t- - - id=.n.incentives.incentives.4.3.Toyota*&setzip=85001

Thanks. That's interesting - if I put in my zip code (near Philadelphia) Edmunds says there are no Camry cash rebates or special financing or lease terms at this time. The ad that's to my right as I am writing this (Toyotathon of Toyotathons) asks for my zip code and the page it takes me to shows a lease incentive for the Camry but no cash rebate.

Very confusing.
