Nav package was only "satellite ready"--got XM at discounted price we got better than Blue Book on our trade so my husband was happy. It was the first of the month so there were no specials and our area is BUSY--cars are not sitting on the lots so did not think there would be much more later--Had one guy call me after an Internet quote request and told me that his dealership (in different but close town) were not discounting TCH from list because they were so popular... we were not financing and we had difficult time finding the light beige leather interior with power seats---might could have gotten a better price but went to three dealerships dong test drives one did not have any hybrids, one did not have tan leather and did not want to search for TCH that did. ---so this deal seems to be OK--maybe not great--but not that bad. Now just hope the car works out to be a keeper... It is going to take some getting used to with the smart key and push start and the shift configuration-- getting a clear bra installed as well--anyone done that? |

I went to look at a 2009 camry, metalic gray, sun roof, very nice, but a 4 cylinder, listing price 26.000. I have a Hummer H3 23,000 miles, 5 cylinder, vortex engine, red, sporty, they would only allow me 19,500 because of gas prices. It gets 19 miles to the gallon, I was not trying to trade it because of gas prices, its because i cannot see to back the thing up without a backup camera, they still would only alow me 19,500 for my Hummer and would not budge on the price, therefore I would have to give them my 2006 Hummer with only 23,000 miles plus 6,000, I just could not see doing that, any comments or suggestions as to what i should do? This dealership was in Durham, North Carolina, and they just didnt want to even try to come to terms with me on what I wanted Thanks

The real problem I'm sure is the Hummer, so try taking to Carmax on 70, who will give you a price on buying it outright. I doubt the Toyota dealership would want it on their lot, so they'll have to auction it out. You can also try selling it yourself. Check www.fitzmall.com in Gaithersburg, for good online prices of Toyota's. That will give you a good understanding of a reasonable purchase target. Good luck |

However if Hummers are not selling well (and you're getting better than most people I think at 19mpg) you can't expect a dealer to put a lot into something they can't move. Check Edmunds for the trade in value and then factor in the current gas pricing and they may not be that far off. UPDATE, I just checked used prices on Edmunds and a "clean" 2006 with automatic has a trade in value of $19,599. Unless your's was loaded, they don't sound that far off in their pricing. Might not like it, but still .... it is what it is. |

When you consider that you can get a TomTom or Garmin for only a couple hundred bucks, and be able to move it from car to car, and get updates for it easily, the built in nav units don't hold their value well. There are some reports showing that cars with built in nav actually sell for less than those without it. The Nav for the Camry is about 1400 if you want to install it yourself. Compared to a tomtom that ranges from $199 - $399, 1400 is pretty steep. Another advantage of after market GPS maps is you can have it at eye level, you don't need to take your eyes off the road to look at it. One thing I truly liked about the Prius I had was the speedometer was just a glance down from the road, unlike all other cars where you have to completely look down to see the speedo. Another thing about built in nav, you cant take it with you if you go on a trip and get a rental, but the portables you can.

Just bought a 2009 Camry base model (what is called CE earlier) from a bay area dealer. Paid 17,500+title+tax with 2.9%APR for 5 years. I bought CE instead of LE as the difference was only the keyless entry and Power seat. My other car has the power seat and have used it only handful of times in a year. I might install remote lock/unlock system at a later time. In my opinion the Prius is costly as I did a break even calculation using the excel spreadsheet(using $4/gallon gas). The price difference was unacceptable. This car is just for my daily usage of 80 Miles.

JBL is also part of nav, so that's why the nav is cheaper on the XLE (that has standard JBL than it is on the Hybrid. It's over $2000 for Hybrid models. I would probably get the nav for $1200 if I were to get an XLE, but I only need an LE and would use a portable nav if I were to get a Camry. The screen would actually be higher on the factory nav because I would rather keep the portable down low behind the cubby door so I wouldn't have the hassle of having to move it and hide it somewhere else whenever I parked. I have already tested this scenario with a rental Camry and it was usable especially since I rarely had to look at the screen. I could rely on the audio alone for instructions 99% of the time and it was still in my lower peripheral vision even being that low. If it says "Turn right on Main Street in 500 yards" there is no reason to look at the screen. I could probably get by with the screen turned off most of the time.

Goergia folks - Just bought the 2009 Camry LE (Base model without any options) from Cherokee County Toyota in Georgia today at a total drive out price of $20,850. The price includes dealer fees, Fulton County Sales Tax, Tag etc. and the entire process was smooth and done in one hour. |

| What's new Camry financing options for May? I know that Toyota offers 0% interest for 36 months on Corolla and Honda offers 0.9% for 36 months on 2008 Accord. Can't find any information on Camry financing... | |
