Dear anyone, Interested in getting into a new 08 camry 36mo 12k mi/yr, (IN APRIL!) I turn in my previous camry lease then. I thought I got a good deal on my last one but after reading your posts I have no idea! I got the base model with black mirrors (gasp). Got it for $2K down (all inclusive w/1st payment) then 35 more payments of 175/mo. 12K miles/ yr, GAP included. The bus. manager cleared with the gen manager to get me into what they said is a loss leader (in the paper ad to get you in the door to buy up). The bus. manager then turned the screen and said they were actually losing some $ on the deal. He said he rarely ever sees camrys go for under $200, of course, this one has the black mirrors! I haven't seen any of these ads hit the papers yet with the sick cheap lease pricing (maybe cause there are 07's still around). Is there any hope for me to get a similar payment? I want the lowest no frills model, even if it's a manual tran. Seatbelts would be nice. I'm reading to negotiate the price then have the dealer work numbers, how do I know they aren't changing mf or adding any other bs? I'd like to go 0 down this time (except I guess the first payment/acq/sec (in other words no cap cost reduc?) My wife and I still have tier 1 credit. Thanks very much, also I live in Merrimack NH (southern, close to Boston area) |

I got a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid from Jack Taylor/Alexandria (VA) for $50 over their "invoice" price. I didn't get the leather or Nav, but I did get the upgrade package (UP), moonroof (SR), carpet mats (CF) and heated mirrors (HM). The price was $25,757. I took the $500 customer cash from Toyota, so out the door price = $25,257. There seemed to be a lot of inventory in the DC area. Other dealership with aggressive pricing were 355 Toyota (MD) and to a lesser extent Koons of Arlington.

Replying to: amcamry08 (Nov 03, 2007 2:35 pm) I am also planning to purchase 2008 Camry LE 4 cyl during the last week of november. I have received quotes for 2008 Camry LE 4 cyl from different dealers and the lowest ones are below Dealer1 : 19000 $ out of the door price (including tax, tag fee, processing fee, ..) Dealer2 : 20000 $ out of the door price. (excluding 500$ off or Financing Options 0% for 24 mons, 2.9% for 36%, and 3.9% for 48 mons). Please let me know whether toyota offers any deals during dec. Also let me know whether the Price quotes I received are the best ones (or) Do I need to bargain? Regards, Satish

Here are some of your quotes: Toyota offers the safest, most durable, highest resale values of any car manufacturer out there - why worry about price? I'm trying to understand why car shoppers seem to care so much about price... ... it will COST you three times as much to own this vehicle over a five year period than it will to own a Camry. I'm starting to worry that the automotive sales industry is doomed, going the route of everything else that our 'fast food nation' has destroyed. Nobody really cares about service, if they did, would there really be this many restaurants with drive-thrus attached to them? The bottom line, is all the American consumer seems to dwell on. They shop at Wal-Mart, which means that have no interest in quality service or quality products, its all about fast and cheap. Not even realizing that the fast and cheap way is crippling our nation, costing us American jobs in labor and service I've read these with amusement. Don't get me wrong, I love Toyota's, but even Toyota has to be competitive. Several of your posts indicate you are young, inexperienced or both. However if you want to be successfull you need to keep your enthusiam for Toyota products but you need to improve on your understanding of what motivates people. I'm curious, do you reallybelieve something like, say an Accord or Maxima, will cost 3 times more than a Camry over a 5 year period? Also other than maybe the Tundra and the Camry SE, I would have a hard time calling anything Toyota makes as being especially "good looking". Get a grip on it. I had 2 Sequoias and they were "plain" looking. I was happy with the quality, even though it was no better than my Expedition, and even the Sequoia depreciated as much as the Ford, and I had to have more money tied up in that purchase during ownership. If you want to be taken serious by an "informed" buyer you just have to be able to see both sides of the conversation. I'm an American consumer. I want it all. Price, bottom line and quality and resale. All my purchases are studied very carefully considering all that. It's always a trade off. Good luck in your career. There will always be an automotive industry, it is not doomed. It's just that there will be winners and there will be losers. You've chosen a winning team; just try to better understand the "enemy" (your competition) |

Replying to: iplanet (Nov 20, 2007 7:58 am) They'll then issue a TSB to the dealers, saying that the TSB applies to any vehicle PRIOR to Vin#12345. They'll also give you a date that the change was made, which gives you an easier way to rule in/out your vehicle (hypothetically, if the change was made in april '06, and your car was made in june '06...then your car should have been built with it on it). So the first thing you do is to look whether your car was made before the TSB issue date. If dates are close, check the actual VIN number. If you car vin is included in the TSB, then when you take to the dealership they'll verify it when they look your car up in their computer system. When they apply the TSB that effects performance/shifting at the dealership, that TSB indicates the dealership is to put a sticker on the underside of the hood, indicating the TSB was performed. |
