I am interested in buying a Camry LE 2003. Our local dealer only has one that has all the options that I wanted. I want side air bag. The price I got from the dealer is a little bit higher than what I've expected... Here is the invoice that he faxed to me: MFG Base Price 17191.00 Total factory options: 688 (ABS --$258, side curtain airbags -- $430) Total port options (Pre delivery services -- $25, vehicle fueling -- $7.8, mud guards -- $75, carpet mat set -- $119): 226 Delivery / Processing/ Handling: 525 T.D.A. 218 M.A.F. 275 2% Holdback MSRP 397 PIO holdback 20 1% Finance reserve MSRP 198 Total: 19738 Sale price is: 19938 (he wants 200 over invoice) The out of door price for this car is: 19704. This car has 200 miles on it already. The color is Phatom gray pearl Can anyone tell me if it is a good deal? The reason I am interested in 2003 is that I can have 1000 rebate plus 400 college graduate cash back. Otherwise, I'll go after a 2004 Camry. Thanks for your responses. |

But they're charging you for gas? Wow. Also, in my region, 2004 Camrys are available, since Friday, with $750 cash back, so its not that big a difference. Maybe you should shop around a bit? That way you wont have a year old car right off the bat..... ~alpha |

Not sure about your region, but in the SE in May i was able to order an 03 XLE 4 cyl with the options I wanted and I paid $300 below edmunds listed invoice price, minus a 1K rebate. I never even saw the invoice at the dealer. All of the extra stuff on the invoice is fluff, except for the delivery fee. The way I calculated what I wanted to pay was I looked at edmunds invoice price for my base vehicle and added options at invoice and delivery charge. This came to 22.3K. A local dealer had a build your own and make an offer website. I did that and offered 22K and I told the dealer that my offer included any doc fee he charged and I would get the rebate. he agreed and ordered me the car, just like I wanted it. I agree with alpha, shop around and do not get hung up with finding the exact car. Toyota has a good system for letting the dealers look at inventory for their region. If they cannot find your car in the region, it is simple enough to order it. Mine took about 6 weeks. |

| I've never bought a new car before. I read the rest messages on this board and learned that most new cars' mileage is under 100 miles. Is 200 miles too high for a new car? | |

| mine had 130 miles on it including about 40 miles for transport but you should ask the dealer anyway, probably was on a few test drives? | |
| As per many individuals I spoke with, nearly all of them got their vehicles with about 4-6 miles. Some had no more than 10 miles. I would not accept a vehicle with more than 10 miles, it leaves questions. Were they using that vehicle for test drives or a demo car from another dealership. Mia9, I would not have accepted a car with 200 miles, sounds like a demo. A demo vehicle, almost everyone hammers the vehicle during test drives. Bottom line, when you go to pick up your vehicle, you should look it over with a fine tooth comb, because once you sign acceptance of delivery and drive off, its yours. We did this for our 04 SE V6, it had fine scratches on the clear coat, interior color was wrong and the Nav. system did not have the cassette as promised. We refused delivery, and to compensate us for the inconvenience the dealership is selling us the newly ordered car at their cost. Also, it had 11 miles on it, and as per Toyota of California the vehicle departed from Kentucky with 2 miles on the odometer. So it was driven approx. 9 miles at the dealership. I pointed all these infractions to the general manager who is now dealing directly with us. | |
| I have an offer for a Demo car which has 10,000 miles. The offer is $22,000.00 no fees. Is this a good price. The car was supposedly driven by two salesmen. It appears to be in excellent condition but my question is why isn't this car considered to be a certified vehicle as opposed to a Demo? are Demo really worth the money? I would appreciate any assistance on this one. | |
| A dealer is offering to sell a 2003 Camry LE V6 Auto ( Sunroof, CD Changer, Keyless entry ) with almost 12000 miles on it for $17650. Is that a good price? | |
