It's amazing to me that bad sales people still exist, and apparently thrive, given the amount of competition there is out there. So I guess it should come as no surprise when I visited Keyes Toyota in Van Nuys that their sales person was terrible. He was unfamiliar with the product - to an astonishing degree - I'm not splitting hairs here he couldn't answer basic questions about the vehicle. I believe he even got the warranty information wrong on the battery. Even so it is a close dealership and my wife and I didn't want to look to hard so we asked about pricing. We were ready to buy and almost any reasonable response would have closed us, instead he acted as if selling me the vehicle ABOVE MSRP would be doing me a favor. Needless to say we started to shop elsewhere. I had a similar experience when we bought our E-Class at a Keyes dealership so I am saddened to say it is a corporate culture issue. I made a few calls, found the car we wanted at Northridge Toyota spoke with their Internet department and made an appointment to come in. We had to postpone a day but called in advance the next morning to be sure the salesman would be there, so we confirmed our appointment for mid-afternoon. He acted as if there were no changes from our previous conversations. Needless to say when we got there he took us out to the lot showed us a different color combination and confessed they had sold our car the day before. He had my number, and had he called to give me a heads-up we would have come out and looked at different colors, but by manipulating me into coming out to the dealership so that he could get paid for booking an appointment he lost my business. I was beginning to lose hope when I called Longo in El Monte and spoke a fleet manager who shares the first name of a Nintendo game character "Super M... Brothers". M was like a breath of fresh air. He didn't try and play games, he shot straight with me and he gave me a great price fast. But you be the judge of it: 2007 Camry Hybrid loaded: MSRP $31,458 - "Super M" price $28,000 period. No hidden fees or additional charges (obviously I had to pay TTL). My experience at the dealership was exceptional we were in and out in 90-minutes. Including time we spent checking out the car. I am a believer. Codes on car are: CQ, LA, NV, SR, CF, V4.

Well, I just did my taxes and as I thought I was able to claim the full $2600 tax credit on my Federal Tax Return. There are a lot of folks out there throwing out a scare that most people won't be able to claim this because of the Alternative Minimum Tax issue. Granted a lot of people won't be able to, but I'm guessing most of them already know who they are. It's not so much about income I don't believe than it is about the type of deductions you claim. My guess is that most Californians who are griping are probably stuck with high mortage interest (same for any large metropolitian area I assume) with the high cost of real estate. Although I understand that small business owners may have issues as well. My income was in (well, it's a lot higher than average) and I still didn't have to pay the AMT. It is something that everyone should have checked into if they were expecting the credit, but I don't think it's a big issue (except as always to those that are affected).

We got a new ’07 Camry CE with a manual transmission for $18,050. This includes the carpet floor/trunk mats and destination charge. This does not include tax and $90.00 in tag/document fees. Very happy with everything, especially getting a Camry with a stick shift!!
