That is a great price. Did you get those quotes online?

What did you mean? I stated that the price I quoted--$19K wasn't just for discounted models. Rather, this price was common well before the new Camry was released.

My point is, the dealers are currently asking and getting near MSRP prices for the Camry. This isn't uncommon for any product that's newly released or redesigned. I'm certain, that given some time, the prices will come down. It may be possible (eventually) to purchase a 2007 Camry SE (4 cyl) for under $20K.

Where did you just fly in from?

I have an '07 XLE now that I bought for $2,400 under MSRP 2 weeks after they came out.

If I wanted an SE manual, I could buy one this week for under $20,000. Automatic for under $20,900.

The problem with the SE (4cyl) model in california is that they are only coming in a certain configuration. It has the JBL, moonroof and spoiler pre installed. That adds about $2000 to the price. I got a quote of $22,900 on the Camry SE (4cyl) here in northern california. Trying to do better

Thanks for the information about the Toyota Extra Care Warranty from Mechanicsville Toyota. I will check with them tomorrow. Fortunately, armed with the Mossy advertisement, the only thing I had to spend on checking out the prices of the new Camry was about an hour's time on the telephone with a few dealer's sales or internet managers and about 15 minutes reviewing this website.

I actually wandered into the Mossy dealership last weekend and saw the advertised prices on the cars. Assuming that L.A. or Orange county pricing would be cheaper, I called some of the L.A. and O.C. dealers I was most familiar with and asked if they could better the price I could get locally. I had also placed inquiries with the Edmunds.com website, so other dealers were generally calling me to follow-up with me. I forgot to check with Wondries Toyota (Alhambra), and they are apparently advertising 18,888. I remember them having great prices when I bought my 2001 Landcruiser, but all they could do at the time was match my $10,000 off list that I could get locally in San Diego, so I bought locally in San Diego. Good luck! If you are inclined towards extended warranties, I know that Toyota of Greenfield, Mass does a good business in mail order sales of the Toyota Platinum Warranty for about 40% off the Toyota Financial Services Website list prices. There are a few other dealers that might be worth checking as well.

I see your point, though I question the need for sarcastic comments. To make my assertion more accurate, I should have stated, "many dealers are currently asking and getting near MSRP prices for the Camry."

Sounds like you can purchase an SE for a good price ... in your area.

My comments were originally directed at this post. Also my comments weren't intended to criticize this person or the quote they obtained. Rather, my intent was simply to point out that this car can possibly be purchased for much less. Of course many factors must be considered, local economy, supply and demand, and what consumers are currently willing to pay for this product.

njerald,

Where did you buy your xle for 2400 under invoice?
No nj dealer has quoted that low - yet.

Also, fitzmall is now posting 1000 over factory invoice. It seems that the prices are actually going up.
Thanks,
efpat1

If I order one, which takes about 3-4 weeks, do I still have a chance to 'make a deal'?
