I hope it all works out for you. May I share one caveat and offer one piece of advice for you? When dealer offers are very different as has happened for you, shift to an OTD (out the door) price as the figure of negotiating. Some will offer numbers that include destination fees, some will not.....watch for this! An OTD is exactly that and if you get to the settlement table and the figure differs from what was negotiated, WALK!
Always use a credit card for deposits as they can be easily cancelled if needed. Once the dealership has your money, it is very difficult to get it back without buying a car from them. This is one way many dealers take the buyer's leverage away.

Mossy Toyota in San Diego advertised $18,996 plus sales tax and license for a 2007 Camry LE (4cyl, auto, floormats, MSRP $21,279, alleged dealer cost of $19,280, Edmunds dealer cost $19,042). Toyota Carlsbad, Kearny Mesa Toyota, and Toyota of Orange would match it. Neither Toyota of Hollywood, North Hollywood Toyota, nor Toyota of Cerritos would even bother trying to match the deal. Mossy and Carlsbad wanted $1430 and $1300, respectively, for the Toyota Platinum 7yr/75,000 mile, 0 deductible warranty. I plan on getting mine from Toyota of Greenfield, MA or one of the other dealers mentioned in Posting #862 (Toyota Avalon: Prices Paid)for less than half those figures. I plan to check with the other dealers this week on the extended warranty prices. I have personally bought 2 vehicles and helped with a friend's purchase of a third in the last 6 months, and I have found this site to be absolutely invaluable for pricing information. I saw Wondries Toyota is selling their 07 Camry LE 4 cyl. for only $18,888. Too bad, I got mine from Tustin Toyota 4 weeks ago at $800 over invoice. How much money have you spent on check out the new Camry? btw, I bought my 6/100K/0 deductible Toyota Extra Care from Mechanicsville Toyota. They gave me the cheapest price, $100 cheaper than what Greenfield quoted to me.

Not entirely, I also purchased my 2005 SE (with same options) for less than 19K. For the last two years it wasn't uncommon to see SEs listed for 19K or less. With the release of a new model it isn't unusual for dealers to stick close to MSRP. However, eventually prices will drop; especially with a volume seller like the Camry. I guess it depends on if one is willing to delay purchase until this occurs.

If I could get LE for $18,888 I'd be there! I'm having trouble finding aloe green here in so. cal. The only one that seems to have it in stock is Longo which is about an hour and a half from me. They gave me an internet quote that was the highest of about five others at $19,998. I can do much better than that. Claremont Toyota gave me a quote of $19,275. That seemed low compared to others who averaged at around $19,500. Claremont is best so far. What do ya think?

What did you mean? I stated that the price I quoted--$19K wasn't just for discounted models. Rather, this price was common well before the new Camry was released.
My point is, the dealers are currently asking and getting near MSRP prices for the Camry. This isn't uncommon for any product that's newly released or redesigned. I'm certain, that given some time, the prices will come down. It may be possible (eventually) to purchase a 2007 Camry SE (4 cyl) for under $20K.
