Well, just purchased my new camry last night. Dealer claimed to give us $500 over invoice but I don't think their invoice was correct. Paid $26,950 OTD (this includes everything, including tax since I am military). I'm sure it's not the best deal but I feel pretty good about it.

What a car. I recently drove a 2006 G35 coupe, 2006 Hyundai Azera, 2003 Maxima GLE, and 2004 Acura TL. I know what you are saying, this is certainly no G35, that's right, but for an everyday car I don't think you can beat it; and it was $9,000 less than the G35, $2,000 less than the Azera, and $1,000 less than the TL (w/40,000 miles).

I am not joking here, but after listening to the other Factory stereos I think this one is the best. The TL does sound nice with a 5.1 DVD but otherwise it lacks fullness. The JBL system is top-notch in my humble opinion (440 WATTS!!, need I say more).

I am very pleased with the Camry, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Of all the cars I looked at it had the most WOW effect at first glance; the body has a hint of Lexus IS 250 and the interior could easily be mistaken for a ES 330.

Great forum, wish I had read before last night and perhaps could have gotten a few more dollars off.

Follow-up to my previous post (above). Found out that the dealership had completely deceived me about the invoice price by about $1300. Couldn't believe it (guess I should have), the salesman and I were talking about integrity and she claimed to be honorable and forthright.

So here's what I did: I went back the next morning, in my military uniform, and sat down with the salesman and the general manager. I told them that in a time of war especially, integrity is all that counts and that I didn't appreciate them deceiving me into believing I was getting the car for $500 over invoice [it's important to note that I had already purchased the car and taken possession, they didn't have to do anything]. I discussed my evidence of the actual invoice price: Edmunds, KBB, and I even got the actual invoice price from their own internet salesman over the phone.

It was obvious that I was completely disgusted with their shady practices and I was secretly prepared to walk up to everyone of their customers in my uniform (it was a Saturday so very busy) and discuss what had happened.

After a group of about 6 managers/salesman discussed my situation for about 10 minutes, the manager came out and gave me a different figure for the invoice, this time he was only $700 off from the actual invoice, showed me some website (probably bogus) that showed this number. After a few quid-pro-quos he said he would knock off another $1,000 from the price I paid (dont forget that I had already taken possession of the car). I said OK.

OTD price for a 2007 Camry XLE V6 (no additional options, comes with just about everything anyway) for $25,950
which includes TTL (I'm military so no tax).

Don't want to give the dealership's name but it was one of only two in the Charleston, SC area.

Just wanted to share my experience, thanks for listening.

link title

Check out the above link, if you add on "Additional Freight Charges, Southeast Toyota" the MSRP is $28,155 for my Camry. Let me know what this "Package A" includes and I will tell you if it is on my car. I will help you in anyway I can.

The dealership is in Charleston, SC, but please see my follow-up post for more interesting details.

1) Isn't 9% tax rate real? Can dealers lie about tax rates too? (I don't really trust them)

2) I've read on other posts about something called TTL. What's TTL? Does it look like my quote includes that already?

3) Is this a good quote overall?

4) What charges can I expect them to put on top of these when I actually go there to buy my car? Yes, they say it is OTD price, but does anything look missing?

5) I spoke a couple of other dealers, they talk about some DMV charges. Are those the same as documentation charges?

Chi & Cook Co Tax rates are higher than most of the rest of the state e.g. Dupage is 6.75, so 9% doesn't surprise me, but you will wind up paying tax rate based on where the car gets purchased & registered to so I don't think you can avoid it. You can confirm tax rates at the state of IL web site.

If that's OTD, you shouldn't expect them to add anything else. Sometimes mysterious advertising fees come up, but those might already be included in the base price.

TTL=Tax, Title, License. Title and License is probably (you should verify) included in your new plate charge. State of IL charges $65 for a new title plus $15 to transfer plates or $78 for new plates. I've seen some dealers tack on extra dollars on plate fee but $143 would be right.

DMV (department of motor vehicles) charges would be the plates/title/license. The $57 documentation fee is a maximum capped by the state of IL. They are just charging you money for the paperwork they are doing. Personally I think that's more of a cost of doing business but I suppose it's something not to go stand in line at the Sec of State office. I usually try to get that fee removed or preferably reduce the negotiated base amount to offset.

Thanks for the information. Although it is not the same dealership as I had heard about in 04 (I still haven't found that name and price), it is an excellent price and I will certainly check it out.

Thanks again,

I just paid $699 + tax for 6 year/100K miles/0 decuctible on my 07 Camry LE. I checked with Toyota GreenField and they are charging $100 more than I paid here. I paid the same amount last year for my wife's 05 HL LTD so the model and trim does not matter as long as it is a brand new Toyota .

One more comment, my auto issurance is $100 more than my wife 05 HL LTD , which is still worth as lot more than my brand new 07 Camry LE. I think Camry is on the top of the most stolen vehicles really takes a toll here.

I just bought a 2007 camry LE Auto (Northern CA) - for $19250 + TTL - total was $21100 approx.

I need advice - I also bought the 55000 miles prepaid maintenance plan for $1295 - was that a ripoff - can I cancel it ? this covers the 15K,30K,45K services as well as all oil changes (every 5000 miles)

Please advise !!

Hello, can you please share where you purchased the vehilce. I assume it included the floor mats, right? This is the same vehicle I am looking at. I also live in N. California.

I can not commenton the pre-paid maintenance plan. Its something I would not purchase. This doesn't mean its good or bad.

I don't think this forum allows use of specific dealer names - I got this price off a dealer in Gilroy - I am sure that gives you your answer !!
