Simple, again, again and again:

The dealers are charged a regional advertising fee by the manufacturers and it appears on the dealer invoice making it $300-500 higher depending on the manufacturer and sales region.

Get it.

Dishonest dealers by bachismo

This was my first time buying a new car, and I was shocked at how dishonest the salespeople were. Millenium Toyota in Hempstead Long Island used the classic bait and switch after I spoke with the salesperson 3 times to confirm price and that they had the car in stock. Little Ferry Toyota made an arithmatic error of $100 and when I caught them on it wouldn't correct it for 20 minutes. Anyway, I ended up buying a 2006 Toyota Camry CE with a sunroof and etched windows for $19,380. That is the out the door price. I learned that that is the only price that matters because even if you ask for the price inclusive of all fees they'll still add additional fees(NYC tax is 8.625%). The dealer charged me tax on the $1500 rebate. Is this standard practice? I would think there has to be a law about this so there shoudn't be any deviation.

I just wanted to edit my above post. The dealership I mentioned in the above post was Toyota Universe in Little Falls NJ, not Little Ferry. I just called a dealer in Manhattan who informed me that sales tax is 8.375 not 8.625 and that I should not have been charged tax on the rebate. Can anybody confirm this? If this is true these people are more than just dishonest; they're breaking the law.

I am in the process of finalising one such deal and have seen that the tax is charged on the base price calculated after the rebates and discount. So you will get it back, if he has calculated tax otherwise.

400$ college grad discount by curious_buyer

Anybody knows what's the APR you get on Toyota finance loan that you have to take in order to get 400$ collge grad discount on 2006 Camry.

I have excellent credit rating and still getting 7.2%. according to dealer it is non-negotiable. This seems too high and if one just take the loan for minimum 3 months (that the terms of loan force you to take) even then the installments for 3 months would total to approx 300$. Much of this will be interest.

I plan to pay off the loan in 3 months and am taking this loan for just 400$ disocunt. By this math, the discount is reduced by 300$.

Anybody got a better APR on college grad? Did you negotiate on that? Please help by posting early.
Thanks

The dealer asked me to go to DMV pay TTL and TAX by myself because I am a out-of-state customer. so far I've only paid $18000 cash for base price + $19 some kind of fee to dealer. That's all. I haven't pay TTL and TAX yet. My dealer guarantee this is the "lowest" price.

2007 Camry XLE Pricing by wskga1

Was quoted from an Atlanta area dealership $2,000 off from MSRP. The dealer MSRP is 28,354 which includes floor mats. And a invoice price of 25,871.
Would this be a reasonable price to pay 26,354 which is $483.00 over invoice, or should I hold out from another dealer for Invoice pricing??? I usually would pay invoice minus any rebates on any new car, but this is a new model with no rebates at this time. Would like to buy by Friday the 30th.
Thanks,

The SE distribution strikes again.

$300-400 over would be good.

Which Atlanta area dealership would you expect to sale this car at 300-400.00 over invoice plus doc fees, and TTL. By the way doc fees, I call them (Dealer Retirement fund Fee) A rip off. 395-599.00 what a joke. the lowest I have found in the Atlanta market was 249.00. Still a rip off.
