Could you please provide me more information. Where in Chicago area did you see Camry LE Automatic (no other additional options) for $15, 995?
I am looking for LE Camry Automatic but the best that I could find was $17,289.
I sincerely appreciate if you could provide me an address, or dealership name in Chicago area where I can buy a car for this price.

Thank you!!

Price quote for Camry LE no additions SOCAL - is this good? by guitar

I recently got an Internet quote - OTD $18,973. (in LA)
[= $17,206 + Fees]

The above is for a Camry LE no additions.

Is this a good deal? Or can the price go lower?

Also, when it comes to bargaining with the dealer, how much extra leverage do I have if I pay in cash?

One of our local dealers on the Gulf Coast is running an add for an LE at $16,984. This includes the $1000 rebate which evidently has been extended through the month of April. As you know from reading this thread, SET charges more for Toyota's in the Southeast. He had 8 advertised at that price and when I went by late Sat. he had two left. Both were LE's and not the base Camry as I suspected when I saw the ad. I would say that $17,206 is a good price depending on the processing fees. I have seen those fees run anywhere from $499 in the Atlanta area to $299 locally. I am waiting for side air bags and would also like VSC but not willing to move up to an XLE V6. I can't help but think that the 06 will have side air bags as standard equipment since the Accord does.

The dealer that had the Camry LE's for that price was Thomas Toyota in Joliet. I saw the newspaper ad a few days after it was in circulation, went there, and they actually had a bunch at that price! Just remember it was right at the end of the month/quarter. I looked at their newspaper ad link on their website, but there's no price next to the Camry this week, just the rebate/finance deal.
I almost bought one that day but then I saw the Camry SE and decided to go with that model. I got a great deal from another dealer after a little research and hunting.

Make an early morning trip down to San Diego this Friday, and be leaning on the door of Mossy Toyota when it opens. I did this a few weeks ago and got a Camry LE with automatic, no other options, for $15,999 plus tax, license, etc. I got there at about 10 before 6 AM, but no other customers showed up until 7:30. Course, if you decide to come at 7:20, that will be the day everyone comes at 6:00..... :-\

Nearly every Friday, the dealers in San Diego have a special sale ("Two only at this price" etc.) like that. Others are Toyota of El Cajon, Bob Baker Toyota, and sometimes Poway Toyota. They sell out really quickly, of course.

Toyota of El Cajon had a deal going for "Any Camry on the lot for $2,000 under invoice". That included the $1,000 rebate, of course. Give them a call.

You might just start looking in your own local paper every day, early, to see if anyone in the LA area is doing this too.

How can a 21000+ XLE cost $28000 by mj2

My friend is purchases a new Camry XLE 4cyl and isn't a good negotiator.

OK, so he buys the car and when I look at his paperwork later that evening, nothing makes sense. The agreed upon price is MUCH higher.

He put 7 grand down and has perfect credit and finances for 60+ months 5.25+. When I look at his receipt this 21.000+ car suddenly is costing him 27,000+ The paperwork is so confusing. I dont even see where they applied the downpayment. It starts with a "net price" which I assumed to be the price he and the dealer agreed upon before going in to the financing room, and then goes down hill from there.

It went like this: the Salesman and my friend agreed on a price. the trade in was a lot lower then what they had told him a week prior too. And there was a 299 doc fee that he paid. He then went into the financing Dept and that is when this price suddenly got all confusing to my friend. .

As of Tuesday of this week it's a done deal. Does he have any recourse?? Btw, the dealership (he went to) people are very VERY intimidating.

BTW the XLE is 4 cyl and doesn't have anything special. Just your basic package.

Thank you

No, nothing can be done after the papers are signed. It is too late now.

Basically he got ripped off.
I think I am a bad negotiator too but I've learned my lessons b4. thanks to edmunds.com.
If they didnt put 7000 downpayment on signed document.,, I'd tell my bank to stop that check (Unless he paid cash).
