For a 4-cylinder Camry XLE, I actually got a quote for 22K over online. Went the dealer, test drove the car and sat down and talk with three different persons, from salesman to fleet manager. Work out the number and got it down to $359 per month at 3.99% with $5,000 down payment. If you do the math, that comes out to be around $26,500. Before I went in, I figure after adding sale tax, finance charges and other fees, the total price I would pay for the car would be around 25K. I thought 26K was a little too high for a 4-cylinder XLE, so I ended up walking out.

I remember seeing finance charges was around $2,500. Does anybody know how finance charges are calculated over 5 years period? I don't how it came out to be over 2K, if the rate is at 3.9%.

It looks like cash rebates ended 2/28 in my (Chicago) area. Do the rebates only start at the beginning of a month, or could they start anytime
i.e. would it be April 1 at the earliest for new rebates? Thanks.

My sources show that the $700 rebate on the Camry is good through 4 April.

Thanks. The rebate shows up this morning (3/7) though it wasn't on the sites yesterday. It shows it's good from 3/1 to 4/4.

One other question: besides going to a dealer at the end of a month, does it matter if you go at the end of a quarter (i.e. March 31?).

Good Day phili! I am glad to help you out on the Camry information. The XLE is one of the vehicles on my "possible" list along with the Accord. I do not know the answer to your question on the end-of-quarter purchase. You might want to ask this question in the "Any questions for a car dealer" forum in the Smart Shopper section.

I am going to buy a 2005 Camry. I would like to know if any recent buyers test drove both a 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder? If so. how much difference did you notice in performance and power. I see the EPA for the 6 cyl. is only 20 MPG city and 28 MPG highway. The 4 cyl. has an EPA of 24 MPG and 34 MPG highway. The 6 cyl. in my 2000 Avalon gets better mileage than they estimate for the 6 cyl. Camry. What are owners of the 2005 Camry getting?

Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a Camry LE with automatic transmission. What do you think will be a good price ? Right now the best quote I have got is $17999.00 minus $750 factory rebate. Do you think this is a good price or I may be able to get something better.

Thanks,
Vivek

2005 XLE - 2.4L pricing help by chris23

I'm trying to help my mother-in-law buy a Black 2005 Camry XLE, 2.4L, 5A. My question is about incentives and Toyota financing. I noticed there are no incentives listed for March, nor are there any financing deals. Does this mean we can't get low financing rates through Toyota Financing? Also, I noticed that the prices I originally pulled from Edmunds for MSRP and invoice have risen slightly in the past 3 weeks (about $500). Why? Is my mom-in-law more likely to get a better APR through TFS, or through an outside lender? She's got excellent credit. Assuming I can get a dollar figure agreed to prior to visiting a dealership (via internet manager), what other "stuff" are they likely to try to add into the cost - and tell me it's something I need to have? There's nothing more frustrating than car shopping and having the sneaking suspicion that the dealer is trying to screw you out of money on something. Thanks in advance for your replies!

BTW, we're located in Mississippi, if that info helps with your answer on the rebates...

Vivek,

Here in the East Bay area, CA, i found that dealers were not really that willing to beat their competitors substantially. So their negotiations were always along the lines of "we'll beat them by a hundred bucks". Peanuts really and very frustrating. I bought my Camry LE with side/curtain airbags on saturday for $17,600 after rebate. The closest dealer (in terms of price) said they couldn't match it despite me being a serious buyer. Without airbags the best i was quoted was $16,998.

Hope that helps. On a side note, i have to say i love the camry! So glad i went with it over the accord. It's a great drive. And if i don't set foot inside a dealership anytime soon that's just fine with me . I swear they make the whole process unnecessarily complicated to wear you down.

Supernova.
