I just helped a lady buy a Camry Le with side airbags and the distributor installed options of alloyed wheel and upgrade alarm and all that junk that is passed off as great value like paint sealant etc. for $20,550 before $1500 rebate at Toyota of Plano on 2/28/05. It was another unpleasant experience. Being in Dallas market means the dealers get cars from Gulf States Toyota distributor for 5 states. They add few hundred dealer options in bundles that are not always factory option packages and stick it to consumers by charging $1500+. Take Edmunds.com invoice to any local dealer and they will laugh at you and produce their own fakey invoice which may be the invoice from distributor but not the actual factory invoice. When we were closing the deal at $20,700 we were told that the car had 425 miles and only reduced it by $150 and we had no choice since rebate expired that day and she had signed and put deposit down. I have purchased Toyotas and Hondas and the difference is day and night. Honda dealer will accept the Edmunds.com or Consumer Report invoice price and work with you. I was told by all the local dealers that LE doesn't even come with VSC=side bags and curtains for Camry LE and Toyota website indicates it's available. That is why Toyota Dealerships rate the worst in consumer satisfaction survey, despite such great vehicles.

Replying to: gevans17 (Mar 01, 2005 7:30 pm) Yes, the 18080 was for an Accord LX automatic. Whereabouts are you based to get a 1250 rebate on the Camry? i think we're going to go for the Camry simply because we prefer the car. We've now been quoted $17,880 (after 750 rebate) for a LE with airbags and the usual floor/trunk mats thrown in. Does this sound over the odds or about right for a Camry LE in this current market? Invoice on Camry's seem to vary i find depending on the website you consult. I've also been quoted $698 for LoJack, which seems very high.

Doesn't happen with other brands. I have never been able to have Toyota dealer show us the actual factory invoice, just an internal fakey document. His "invoice" on the Camry LE w/ side air bag+curtain option plus distributor installed package of alloyed wheels, upgrade alarm, pinstripes, cargo net and all that protection gimmick was $21,118. Not possible! Its closer to 20k! Take factory MSRP X 90% and you will be fairly close to his invoice. I am still looking for Camry LE with VSC as Toyota website indicates is possible. Anyone get VSC on Camry LE? |

| Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc. is an independent, family-owned company that buys cars from Toyota and sells them to the Toyota dealers in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina. They set their own invoice prices for the cars, which are sometimes different from Toyota's national prices, especially for delivery and options. They also set the consumer rebate amount for the southeast region. There is a similar arrangement in the Gulf Coast region. Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) attempts to show these different regional invoice prices, although they are not always correct. | |

The Toyogaurd is $699 MSRP and they say they have no "play" with that figure so I don't know what invoice was - maybe 400 +/-(?). I paid right under $25,000 before taxes & before finance charges. I'm financing only $20,000 for 60 month at 2.9 (which by the way they don't offer on the XLE - only the LE - but they dealer can "buy down" the rate) and the interest I will have paid at the end of 5 years is about $1500. So all in - at the end of the 5 year loan, I will have paid about $28,000. I think it's a good deal considering the Camry XLE V6 has more bells & whistles and luxury extras than my husbands Lexus ES 300 - which cost substantially more. Good luck!!!
