I had the key turned to the on position and pulled fuse 22. the radio went dead and I waited a few seconds (actually fumbled around with the fuse, dropped it etc) and put it back in. According to the manual, it is actually a fuse to the relay which operates the radio. I assume you meant with power to the radio and not the engine running right?

Right - probably with the ignition on to auxiliary or whatever.
Mind you, I haven't tried this myself, it's just what someone has posted about around here.

Tried it too. Nothing. Probably got a piece of Hubba Bubba in there or something!!!! Who knows. Looks like the dealership is going to get a little money from me (or my kid's piggy bank)!!!
Thanks for the help though

If you have a local stereo shop, they may be cheaper than the dealer. It may be cheaper just to put an aftermarket unit in.

I have the same problem after being rear ended. I have found out the module for the system is under the rear bumper. Ford has replaced 3 modules and 3 sensors and when they test the system the modules or sensors fail. Their Tech's are stumped. They have ordered new test equipment for the vehicle. The Ford engineers are stumped too. I have noticed that before the system failed that I could go to the message center inputs and turn the system on and off but since it has failed I can't access this part of the message center. When the vehicle is placed in reverse, the message center states "check back-up aid. When ford fixes mine, I will let you know what they did. I think though that the dealer can turn on the system with their computers but it will cost you. I had my vehicle jump started and battery replaced and they charged me 50.00 to reset the climate controlled seats about 3 weeks later.

Thank you for this information, all good to know stuff. Please let me know how you make out with all this so I can try to fix mine. Mine is also doing the same thing, and there are no options in the message center to reset anything either, I've looked at that too. Frustrating!

When I was talking to the service tech. I asked him if Ford was having this same problem with other Expeditions and I was told no. The strange thing about that is he also said that there is a TSB from Ford to replace the module with a modified one. Maybe since there is a TSB. on this system, maybe Ford would replace the module in your vehicle for free. My vehicle only has 2 sensors installed in the rear bumper and the technician told me that my vehicle was an early model 2003 and that later 2003's and 2004's have 4 sensors..

I have a Ford Expedition 2006 4x4 and I'll explain something!
I had a part time whistle when I was driving at a minimum of 10Kmh... After a while I saw the mechanics and he said it was a vacuum problem. Ok up to know there is no link with your topics but there we are! I wanted to select the 4x4high and 4x4low and I was not able. I read your topic and from this one I check my fuses (2 fuses to check) So the mechanic saw the actuator on the right side.
So $143.00 Canadian for the piece and about 1Hour of labour.
Finally Thank you my friend and for the others look for it

Help! ...I had the exact same thing happen to my cd changer as you described after my Expedition wouldn't start and had to be jump started. Have tried disconnecting the battery for several minutes in hopes that it would somehow reset the computer and fix the problem. Just wanted to know what finally happened with your radio-did you get the problem fixed? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!
