I live in Tampa, FL. A local dealer offered 2006 Altima S special edition with mats, protection pkg, side sill & rear gaurds for $17,000. This includes $ 2000 discount and excludes tax, tag and title. Is this a good offer. Now that 2007 is out in stores, do you think the discounts offered will be more. Thanks in advance |

Hello, Just wanted to share my horrible experience trying to buy a 2006 Altima at Family Nissan in Rancho Santa Margarita. They had it advertised in the Orange County Register as "Your Price: $13,988" after all rebates. They said they had 5 available at that price. The ad is http://www.familynissanrsm.com/frame.jsp?dfsp=t&url=5635.pdf We went, filled out all the paperwork, and the dealer came back saying the price would be $1000 more because they put a pro-package on the car with some kind of finish on the paint and some other stuff. We assumed this was only on the car/color we chose, so we said we wanted the ones in the ad. They then told us that all the cars they had have this propack finish and there was nothing they could do about it. This propack finish was a dealer add-on. Needless to say, we felt quite deceived. Even the salesperson felt bad, as he knew it was deceptive business practice. The manager of the dealer claimed that there was a disclaimer at the bottom of the add saying that "Does not include added accessories". The dealership was very nasty and was not willing to try to appease the customer at all. He did not offer to split the difference with us or anything. We did not have a good experience at this dealership and I would suggest you find your nissan elsewhere.

OC register replied back and agreed it was shady advertising, and the head guy went to talk to the dealer and tell them they weren't too happy, but ultimately he couldn't force them to sell the car for that price. Nissan Customer Relations sent back a letter saying they would forward the letter to the dealer and to the regional office, but the dealers are individually owned. Well, I got Cerritos Nissan to almost meet the price (within a few hundred dollars) and we acccepted and purchased the car today for approx $16,500 out the door. New 2006 Altima 2.5S Automatic in white. Unfortunately, the battery was dead when we went to drive it home, so they will replace that and detail out a few blemishes, but overall I'm thrilled with the car and the price we paid. I did all the negotiating with the internet department and was very satisfied. Cerritos Nissan is a big dealer and sells a bunch of cars and obviously knows how to treat customers, unlike Family Nissan in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Replying to: xfilerguy (Dec 06, 2006 10:28 pm) I purchased the car at McGrath, as I didn't appreciate beeing treated with ignorance and being yelled at. The internet manager at M`Lady Nissan of Crystal Lake, IL was one ignorant, arrogant moron. This took place in august, I received a price of 16,800 on 2.5 SE or something like that as an internet special. When I stopped by at the dealer to test drive the car, the Internet Manager and his other associate wasn't there, so I dealt with the regular salesman. I provided a printed e-mail with the quote and after a test drive, I was told that I can have the car at that price but will have to pay a destination fee of $600.00 additionally (that actually was already included in that e-mail quote I received and I wasn’t about to shell out an extra 600 bucks for no reason). I left and found an ad in the paper the next morning with their weekend specials, 2006 Altima 2.5S was priced at 16,300. I called the dealer to verify that they do in fact have this car at that price, and I was told that the car is there and availably for immediate delivery. When I came in, the Internet Manager met me outside and walked me into his office looked at the ad and stated that ad price doesn't include the $500.00 Nissan royalty rebate as well as $500.00 College Grad rebate and that I don't qualify for either one although my wife would qualify but he just didn’t care to listen about it. That same car advertised at $16,300 was allof a sudden $17,300. There was nothing in the ad to indicate the College Grad or Nissan Royalty rebates would have to be applied……and the guy I spoke on the phone with stated that the car was available at that price and nothinig else to it. So, I told the internet manager, that I wasn't interested and that if M`Lady wanted my business they would have to sell the 2.5S Altima priced as listed in the ad – $16,300 At this point, conversation turned into something else, I felt like I was being grounded as a kid……..The internet manager turned red and started talking down on me and my wife, he raised his voice, but there was no swearing, yet, he was acting like a real jackass. I could’ve easily reach out and pull him across his desk as he was a short looser, but instead per my wife’s suggestion we just got up and walked out. As we were walking out, the internet manager kept trying to keep us in his office. He was saying: “what even if McGrath charges you more, you won’t buy form me???” So, I replied: “ even if I have to pay twice as much, I won’t buy from you!” The same day we bought a 2.5SE Altima at McGrath of Elgin, IL with the exact color and package we wanted. I have some minor repair issues at McGrath, but hopefully they willget squared away and I don't have to return the car back to the dealer... |

Replying to: xfilerguy (Dec 07, 2006 10:05 am) I got a 2006 2.5S Manual Altima (standard package without any special). It has carpets and splashguards but no ABS, or traction control, etc. The dealer gave me the invoice price $19800, minus the $2000-rebate. We got another $800 discount after negotiation. Invoice: $19800 - $2000 (rebate) - $800 - $2000 (97' Ford Taurus trade-in value) + $400 (destination fee) final price: $15400 plus taxes, titles, etc. Made down payment of $3000 and financed $12500 with the APR of 5.7% for 60 months. What a bad deal I've made

1st post here and having been pouring over previous posts by everyone. It's finally time to upgrade from 98' 200SX-SER and after hearing about the 2007 Altima 2.5 S with 2.5 SL Package made a trip to Nissan of McKinney to check it out in person and very impressed with the look inside and out. Now I'm needing some help with what your thoughts are on a good price. Looking to spec it out as follows: NissanUSA.COM Pricing 2007 Altima 2.5 S with 2.5 SL Package Wood-tone trim (Blond interior only) Includes ABS Option and requires Splash Guard Stand-alone Option. Base MSRP: $20,300 Exterior Color: Winter Frost Transmission: Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) Packages and Options Splash Guards: $130 Fog Lights: $310 2.5 SL Package: $3,850 Anti-lock Braking System: $300 Subtotal: $24,890 Destination and Handling: $615 Total Configured MSRP: $25,505 ---------------------------------------------------------------- TMV Pricing Report 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 S 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl CVT) National Base Price MSRP Invoice TMV $20,300 $18,987 $20,208 Optional Equipment $4,290 $3,854 $4,260 G01 SL Package $3,850 $3,501 $3,826 F10 Fog Lamps $310 $251 $306 B10 Splash Guards $130 $102 $128 Color Adjustment - - $0 Exterior Color Winter Frost Interior Color Charcoal Leather Destination Charge $615 $615 $615 Total with Options $25,205 $23,456 $25,083 Waiting from some online quotes to comeback dealers and would like to see how others faired in the Dallas/Ft Worth area with Nissan's National Year End Sales Event and see if there are known rebates published or hidden. Thanks in advance!

Also seeing the following advertisement for the National Year End Sales Event for the 2006 Altima 2.5 S with the special edition package: 2006 Altima 2.5 S with the special edition package: $3,200 Total Savings* -$2,000 Cash Back Plus -$1,200 Special Package Excludes TTL *Cash back when you purchase a new 2006 Altima 2.5 S with the Special Edition Package from dealer stock. Replying to: woolridget (Dec 10, 2006 2:16 pm) $3000 Off sound pretty good on the brand new model, although, you should be asking the dealer a different question. I suggest that you actually e-mail at least 2 or 3 dealers /internet managers and ask for a quote on the car with the package that you are interested in. Make sure you indicate the specific options and that you receive a quote on the car with those specific options. Lets say you`ve contacted 3 dealers, each one of them will most likely get back to you without a quote at first, you will then need to e-mail them again and ask for a price again. Once you get the price from all three dealers, you just e-mail the quote of one dealer to another and they will most likely get back to you with a better offer. I`ve done it in the past a few times, they never want to loose a sale, the want your business! Internet specialists generally are willing to go lower on the price then a regular salesperson. I don't think you need to negotiate anything at all once you are at the dealer, by that time you should already have an e-mail printed with the final price. But what you need to think about ahead of time, are the minor add-ons, like in my case they were the door and splash guards plus the wheel locks, they ran me an extra 200 bucks. I could’ve knocked the 200 bucks off easily by just standing up and walking away, I was just too tired of dealing with it, so 200 bucks wasn't that much more to pay on the loan over the period of 5 years. I did also purchase extended Gold Nissan warranty up to 100,000 miles and an extra GAP insurance. I really didn't have to do it, just wanted a little piece of mind. I wrecked my Civic before purchasing the Altima and Allstate insurance company had ripped me off, so I decided to spend a little more money and stay kinda worry free. I drive a lot 25,000 miles a year or so. Warranty will be good to have with my high mileage driving. One more thing for you to consider, is, that prices will drop even lower in January of 2007, if you can wait just a little bit longer you will get a slightly better deal then. Thank you for reading my post and good luck. |
