Thanks for your detailed information.
My local dealer insists on the msrp-rebate, which is $22505-$1500, and they said i am not qualified for the $500 college grad because i am not graduated within past 6 months...

Looking at buying a new 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5 s with the Convenience Package ($1120, invoice) with moonroof ($740). MSRP was $25,000. Invoice price was $22,800. The dealership has it for $21,000 closeout price. I got them down to $19,500. But i don't get the $1500.00 rebate because it is a 2008. I also have a cash for clunkers car that no one in their right mind would give more than $700.00 for that will take off another $3500.00. I know this car has already depreciated about $1500.00 since it is an 08. Is $19,500 a decent price without the cash for clunkers? What are people paying for the 09's with similar packages?

I have a local dealer with some 2008’s also. I used to work for a dealership and a few things to consider with a car sitting that long. If the dealership let the battery go deal in the winter it is mostly damaged from freezing. The brake pads may be seized in place. There are the problems with old gasoline. The only time the car may have been moved is if they needed to plow the lot for snow and they will just put a jump box on it started it up for second to move it. There is also lot damage that occurs. Basically you are buying a used car and should inspect it as such. Last they may be improvements on the 2009 compared to the 2008 which I think is the first year of the redesign. I would ask for much more of a discount. When the 2010's come out I would think they would be in a panic to see their remaining 2008 go which I was told cannot even be leased as they are considered used.

The Deal I Made by travelingon

Just purchased an 09 Altima Sedan CVT S for $21521 plus fees. Sticker $24,720, invoice $23,021, rebate $1500. Wish I had used the www.truecar.com and www.realcartips.com web sites before making the deal. I feel after researching other deals, mine could have been better. The truecar report shows the average paid for the car I bought is $20807. The lowest paid was $18446 and the highest paid was $23168. This was based on the last 372 vehicles purchased as of July 17. Could have done better / could have done worse. Picking it up tomorrow. Just for peace of mind, I'm taking the reports I printed off to show the dealer the deal wasn't the greatest.

I looked at the same car Altima Sedan 2.5S with mats, splash guard and convenience package with MSRP of $23595. With rebate, they gave me a quote of $21106 + fees. After researching some web sites, I figured they should have quoted around $19650 (after rebate) + fees. Your deal sounds pretty good. I went to another dealer.
