Laurie,

You are in a position to name your terms. I'd check out other dealerships. Ask to speak to the sales manager and ask if you can take a vehicle out for a test drive without a sales person. If they say no, say thanks and tell them you will try another dealership. If they insist, then tell them you don't want conversation and you want to take a route of your choosing. Dealerships are hurting and not selling cars unless it is one of a few popular models. They can't afford to just let you walk out. One of the Nissan dealerships that I considered offered me to take a new Altima home overnight to show my wife.

For what it is worth, I bought my 3.5SL without navigation for just under $25k at the end of March. This included the $1250 rebate. I'm in Pennsylvania. For the record, I got prices from three dealerships and the most expensive one wanted just over $2K more. It pays to shop around.

Best Wishes!

I got a quote from a dealer for Altima 2.5S with SL package and automatic trans. for $22639 + ttl. This does not include a student discount of 500 that I am eligible for this would bring down to 22139 +TTL is it a good price? Please comment

The price they quoted appears to be invoice minus the $1250 rebate. Using the student discount still makes it an invoice minus all rebates deal.

I think you could get that deal from almost any dealer in the country with minimal effort - as long as they had the specfic car on their lot.

You can probably get them lower if you are willing to negotiate. How low they can go depends on how many cars they have on their lot and what their sales goals look like.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

There is 2008 Altima 2.5L S advertised on June 17, 2008 at The Autobarn Nissan in Chicago at $18,500 (stock # N1763). At least that tells you they are willing to sell one at $3,100 off MSRP.

Thinking about buying an Altima but may have to wait for a couple of months. Do you guys anticipate new incentives to be available after the current deals end on 06/30? Thanks for your insights.

1250 rebate is pretty good for an Altima. If you want a standard 2.5S maybe waiting will pay off, however if you want a SL or SE you may not get the best selection at the end of the model year.

I purchased a 2.5SL with mats and mud guards for $23903.95 out the door including everything. I'm in NC. Sticker was 25,970...got the car for 24065 (invoice) + fees and tax less the 1250 rebate = 23903.95

Good luck
