| I wish that I had a chance at a half-decent deal from my local dealership. The story ... I shopped around and decided that I wanted an 2004 I35, the salesperson was very friendly etc. I went in to see if we could reach a deal and man did they pull out all the stunts. Because of the $2000 marketing incentive, they were willing to give me a sales price of $500 below MSRP! I replied that this was a terrible deal. How about we start at invoice price minus $2000 and decide how much profit over this you'll receive. Time dragged on, the salesperson, then a couple sales managers talked and talked about how the MSRP minus $500 was a great deal and I wouldn't find any better. Being intelligent, I said "I'm leaving". Then they tried the old "we're trying to locate the keys to your trade-in" in order to keep me just where I was. They continued jabbering at me so I had to actually tell them to get me the keys to my car or I'd call the police. Yes, they did get miraculously found. Wow, is this an Infiniti or this dealership cultural problem? Anyways, I can't imagine ever considering an Infiniti again. | |

Replying to: cerebus (Sep 20, 2004 9:19 am) On the other hand, an Acura dealership tried to play the same game (that you encountered) when I was shopping for an RL which, at that time, had a $4k customer incentive, making the RL (with Nav) a $37k car (not bad). But that dealership did not mention or acknowledge the incentive, and instead told me that $2k off MSRP was a good price. Moreover, I would never talk about trade in (or even mention that I might have a trade in) until I finalize negotiations on the new car. In that way, I make sure I get a good price for the new car first and leaving myself an open option for negotiating the trade in later. Also, don't fall in the trap of giving a dealer your driver license or credit card before a test drive. They might just make your life more difficult when you try to walk away. |

Replying to: gsk (Sep 20, 2004 7:19 pm) It includes the "Winter Package" which has Heated Seats, Mirrors, and Steering Wheel. It does not include the Navigation Pkg. The original invoice on it was $29,100, and then I got the $2000 Dealer Cash subtracted from that (making it $27,100). Still all in all, a pretty good deal for Omaha, NE (NE has only 1 Infiniti Dealership).

Although I will very likely go with an Accord EX-V6, it seems the I35 has fallen near the same price. A local dealer is advertising I35s with the cold weather package for $25.8. An '04 Accord will likely be around $23K and an '05 around $24.5. I test drove a Maxima GLE last year and although I wasn't disappointed, I found it no better than the Accord. I don't imagine an I35 will be much different. I prefer the int/ext color combos in the I35. Even though the Accord is not a "luxury" car, it essentially has all the amenities the I35 has, with each having some the other does not. I really don't care about snob appeal or the difference in warranties as both are extremely good vehicles. Anybody cross-shop an I35 and Accord EX?
