Alterd....Where are we going to find 3 to 5 micron filters in the US. no body proclaim the micron factor, unless the filter is an off brand name. -We buy what they sell-, also the fuel is on the same train; here in the US the ULSD is on and that is the only fuel wi will have (15ppm) about the oil I buy dino oil (delo 400)or Rotella, all are 15w--40. Let me know where I can buy 3 to 5 micron filters for the Sprinter.

Without getting into the politics of it all in the USA This dam problem your having is because Of DCX ploicy's in the US
Mercedes sell the new filters at 3 micron, but need a few days to get back to you on this, I'll pull out a filter and see if there is a way to make one as you can by filters in the USA for one micron filter as a wrap, so I need to see if it can be modified as geting them from Germany will be a nightmare, Have you asked about the KH filters as to what the filters have been set at? You could also log into mbcanada.com there are some great threads with guys that can help you find local distributors.
apart from that I will reply within 48 hours.
PS Does the delo 400 meet the same requirements as Mobil oil the one for the Mercedes /Dodge Diesel oil with the particle filter?

From looking at the MBSprinter website, it looks like the new model will we more family friendly (Insulation, DVD, GPS, Stereo, etc..) Do you have any insight? I would seriously consider the van over the traditional minivans that are so popular here in the States. By the way, I wrote Dodge requesting info on the 07's and I've pasted their response. Thanks! Re insight into the new Sprinters, at this moment in time I am limited as the specifcs you require,it's a catch 22 situation as to the politics in the USA that will effect future sales of automotive products in the states for years to come, Oil is nearing Peak demand, therefore it will become more expensive to produce, if you look outside the US and towards both China and India, then you will begin to understand there is no way any producer of oil can produce sufficent quanties to keep up with supply and demand on a global basis,ALternative fuels such as bio diesel, sand oils from Canada or coal pressed oils of which S /Africa is the only country producing can not effectively supply at low production costings because of the massive amount of energy to produce the synthetic oils, even if there was a 110% increase put into discovery off shore feilds in the Gulf today, the cost is over US three, to six hundred thousand dollars a day,providing they don't run into a dry well. the infarstructure to build new refineries, holding tanks and lines etc, will take a decade to come on line, and that is just to meet current demand, There is now no option but for local manufactures to build smaller and smarter vehicles that are more fuel efficent. The Mercedes New Diesel is designed to burn lesser quality fuels. DCX are buliding on the new Sun Diesel concept to run on crop Bio-fuels, The diesel will run thirty to 40 percent more efficently, on miles to the gallon than a gas unit, if you think fuel thats expensive at $3.00 per gallon runing an SUV at 15 miles to the gallon! Then look at the savings on a diesel unit that will do an average of 25 to the gallon , the savings are worth it in the short term of three years when fuel may be over uS $4.00 per gallon Plus, who knows what? depending on the economy of the USA in the next three years which are critical, when costs are continuing to rise as the US compeates on a global basis for the same products,
buy The diesel its the best investment you will make in a decade.fuel will not get cheaper but more and more expensive,as demand increases.

Altered3... The oil is Chevron Delo 400 and it has the applications for MB 228.3 and 228.1 the API service is Cl-4 and Cl-4plus. That is what I use. no syn oil what so ever; I think that the 2.7 engine will run with dino oil as good as syn oil or maybe better. What do you think about the tranny, the other day I went to check the oil and pull the red tab (which I broke) to find out the there is no rod to check the oil. why DC or MB do that; Is there a after mark rod that we can buy. What's up.....

K&N has a good reputation
 
I spent about $400 getting a K&N filter installed on my Suburban. It was much noisier and my mileage dropped about 1 MPG. I am not a fan. I will just use OEM filters on all my vehicles.

not Ultra low never ever use this fuel for current Sprinters,
 
I have most of 4900 miles on my Sprinter using BP/ARCO Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel. Runs great. I only used ULSD in my Passat TDI with excellent results. It will be good when all stations are carrying ULSD.

Gagrice.... I think that the worst enemy that the new engine like the Mb and Jeep CRD is the low,low diesel fuel that the US have, all the problems with the EGR valve and emission controls are because bad diesel fuel. I am from florida and I think that fla will be the last place for the ULSD to arrive; The BP that we have here do not sell diesel and ARCO is all gone, the rest get their fuel from the central fl pipe lines that come from Tampa (I think) so maybe by october we all have it..

Im not sure why dodge does this, but I have had so many requests for a dipstick that I ordered the specail tool and sell it on ebay. I have sold 20 or thirty of them. It comes with instructions. This is the Miller tool that Dodge sends us to check fluid in sprinter vans and is not ment to stay in the van while driving. You can also find that red clip on my website www.sprinterparts.net.

Sprinter is so LOUD by mdman1

I just test drove a 2500 158-base passenger wagon. The dealer let me take it home for the weekend. At highway speeds, the thing was unbearably loud, particularly going up hills. Not highway noise, but engine noise. I'd like to somehow work out getting one (the 140 without the high roof), but there's no way with such a loud operation. Does the front insulation option help at all with the noise? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
