My height in an RX-8 by doofus2008

I've done some searching to try and find an answer for this but nothing really answered it. I'm 6'4" and I was looking into getting an RX-8 to replace my truck. Does anyone know, from experience, if I am too tall for one?

I'm 6.1 and 230LB and I'm very comfortable getting in and out with no head hits. At 6.4 You'd need to angle the seat back one or two clicks more, but then you might need to duck a bit more on taking the seat, but your arm will make up the reach I'm sure.

The door way on the RX-8 (not even using the suicide door) is probably the largest entry of any sports car out there.

My ex-Marine uncle is 6.4 and he got right into the driver seat with no problems. Of course he has a Mini-cooper that he loves to drive.

If you get the sun roof however, all this advice goes out the window.

I don't understand. Is the sunroof version smaller or something? And if so, does that include the moonroof too?

The RX-8 looses two huge inches of head with the sun roof front and back. I can site in the back of my RX-8 with half an inch of head room, but in the sun room equipped I have to bend over in the seat Sorry. Also, the sun roof is mounted so far back, that it's probably of no use unless you angle the seat way back.

All cars I've compared loose 1" to 2" to the sunroof/moonroof. They need the room for the mechanism. The ones that open on the outside of the car usually loose less, but not always. Check the specs.

i'm 6'3" and have no problem getting in and out of my sunroof equipped 8. i've sat in a few sports cars... (350Z, G35 to name a few) and the 8 is by far the roomiest of the bunch. i haven't taken a long trip yet but i compare the cabin space to that of a honda accord up front. i hope this helps.

Everyone jump onto iTunes and subscribe to the VOD podcast next week. These guy post awesome muscle, sports and super car video podcasts. Some of the stuff is really funny and some of it is really serious racing grit.

But VOD's going to do a rotary engine podcast next week. Let's all jump on it. Let's show'm that rotor heads are still out here in large numbers!

Just jump into iTunes podcasts and download the episode. Looks like someone's build a Quad Rotary. They had a shot of the CAT under the car while the Quad Rotary was revving. The CAT was glowing red hot!

Then the video showed a formula one rotary racer, kind of poor video quality. 14K revving was cool.

Wasn't as good a VOD Car podcast as I had hoped though. Stupid synthetic oil adds got spliced into video. Ugh!

My Rx8 vs my wife's IS 350? They are night and day. It depends on which type of driving you like you better. If I had to do it all over again, I'd still buy the 8. It suits my style. However, I do recommend the IS 350 to most normal drivers who want power with less annoyances. (This should tick some people off.)

I get the best of the both worlds. I prefer my wife's IS in city driving, especially in traffic. Its easier to drive in traffic. I prefer mine when ripping up backroads, twists & turns, and highway driving. The IS350 is pretty damn smooth though.
I love having a manual transmission in the RX8. Hers is an automatic, but it is smooth. No complaints-except for her annoying traction control system that is a pain in the neck to turn off. The 8's disengages with a push of a button.

Hers definitely has more power. Off the line, both cars are close to about 30 mph, and then she pulls away. Her car has noticeable low end power.
My 8 handles better, brakes better, and offers better resistance to body roll. I think mine looks better, and thats the reason why I drive it. Mine gets the driver more involved in the driving experience, and my wife agrees. It does not mean hers is boring. In fact hers is fun too. Its a matter of different tastes in styles of driving.
Hers has much better trunk space, more rear leg room, better gas mileage, and a much better looking interior. She doesn't have to check her oil every third fill-up and she does not have to warm up her car before turning it off. Does this mean I favor her car? Not really. I do not mind the anoyances of the RX8 because the payoff is the huge rev line and awesome handling.
My wife and I will go to our graves arguing which of our cars is better.
