We have one discussion over in Future Vehicles:

2008 Nissan Rogue

As soon as it hits the dealers (I'm guessing it's not at the dealers yet?), we'll move it over to SUVs and add some more discussions about it, like Prices Paid and MPG.

Thanks for the info. I searched under Make and Model, and that doesn't give any listing for Rogue. One more place to look - Future Vehicles.

Perhaps you'll understand my confusion when you think about this: the Scion xD already has a Forum - even though it ain't on the lots yet.

I realize that the xD isn't your forum. Just trying to figure out the Edmunds Way.

I usually use the Browse By Vehicle search on the left but if you limit yourself to that, you'd never find the X-Trail discussion.

I think all the Scion xD discussions are only on the Future Vehicles board too (so far), unless they are linked in more than one place.

Edmunds Way is usually an easy commute but occasionally you wind up on a dead end or a roundabout, lol.

Yikes. To think I laid the groundwork for that...

Roundabout - I though you were in Idaho. Isn't that a Massachusetts thing? Except for Yes fans, of course.

They are starting to show up everywhere - keeps traffic moving and saves gas. But there's only one here at the moment that I know of - another big one is in the works (a 5 way getting converted).

It may wind up like Swindon before it's finished.

X Trail security system by dollard1

I've bought a 2006 X Trail and would like to know how the security system works. I'm new to this type of security. The manual isn't much help. Does just locking the door activate it? If someone breaks into the car and hot wires it is the ignition killed?

The X-Trail security system, which is coded to your personal ignition key prevents a thief from hot wiring the ignition as no amount of attacking the column lock & wiring will enable the person to defeat the system. The keys have a chip code that only a Nissan dealer can replace and is the reason why extra keys cost $130 or more for a replacement. Other than having a tow truck lift and carry your car away, you're well protected. The red light on your dash should be flashing at all times to indicate the system is operable, too. If not, see your dealer to check it out - Waterloo Guy

Thanks. In the meanwhile I visited a Nissan dealer and found out most things. Some things they mentioned;
I had been locking the car by pushing the door button and now know that doesn't turn on the alarm system. You have to use the key or the fob to arm it. Once armed, if someone opens the door, say after smashing the window, the horn alarm will sound. This might prevent someone from stealing stuff you have in the vehicle. The alarm is disarmed when you unlock the door with the fob or your key. This disarming is mechanical not electronic. So if you had a spare key made that didn't have a chip in it you could unlock the car but not start the car.
I think the key and fob should be carried separately. If you have them on the same key chain and you loose it it would be very easy for someone to find and take your car. I never use the fob myself. I guess it is for when your hands are full.
