Well, we rented one in Italy last month and put 1500km on it. Diesel 6 speed with plenty of room for the 4 of us. Plenty of power, too. Fun!!! Would love to have it here in the US. Thanks for your reassurance on the size. marstonb

to attend the wedding of one of my former High School Exchange students. Her dad recently traded in his Nissan Laural (nice car... spent time in it on my last trip there) for a new X-Trail.

It is nicely sized, well equipped, and comfortable. We squeezed 4 adults and two young kids in it for several days driving around town. Our host, a former mechanical engineer, was quite pleased with his new car, and delighted in showing me all around it. In his retirement he heads off to the mountains for overnight fishing trips, folds the seats flat, and sleeps in it.

LAST CHANCE FOR AN EX-TRAIL BONAVISTA by b10609

Our local dealer is clearing the X-Trail inventory as it is being discontinued to make room for the new Rogue later this year. Deals are great, full $6,000 off list, for a loaded Bonavista Edition out the door for $26,847 plus taxes. I'd suggest anyone interested look at Nissan.ca website for further specs etc. on this numbered model. Yes, I said numbered with a plaque, stainless steel door sill plates plus automatic climate control, 17" alloys and much more content than earlier SE models. Nissan produced this model as a final gesture to Canadian buyers as they wrap up a very successful model run. For our American friends, Cape Bonavista is on the north coast of Newfoundland which is our most easterly province. WATERLOO GUY

2008 X Trail II by peelxman

Nissan will not be selling the new 2008 X Trail in Canada. Us X Trail owners who took a leap of faith and bought the SUV are being abandoned by Nissan for the Rogue-a CRV and Rav4 wannabe.
I hope the Rogue will be a dismal failure and Nissan will then realize that they made yet another marketing blunder.
The X Trail is indeed a unique vehicle; unfortunately I'll never have the opportunity to buy another. I guess Nissan you lost another loyal customer.

Since the first of the year I have contemplated downsizing from my Mercury (it used to be a comfortable and quiet car...bought a 2005...what a dissapointment - noisy, ill fitting and many gremlins...been looking at the Honda Element...also been noticing what goes by,,,here in outskirts of Atlanta I am noticing a substantial downsizing in the SUVs...Jeep seems to be norm...yes, a few bohemiths remain but we are getting noticably more reasonably downsized. I expect as this catches on the even more that reasonably sized will make a large gains. As I said earlier about our rented X-Trail, my wife, 2 grown daughters and luggage were very comfortable and had a great time wandering Italy last October. Someday I hope our EPA gets a grip...Marstonb

New to this message board and have found many useful ideas. I got a quote for a new 2006 Xtrail Bonavista edition for $30,663 taxes included (I live in Ontario Canada). The dealership has a current promotion for the Bonavista for $6000 off the MSRP which is why I think this might be a pretty good deal. Now we haven't gotten to the point of haggling the price which I'm sure I can get it for a bit cheaper but was wondering from anyone out there what their thoughts are on this price. How much more should I haggle for. Thanks in advance.
