New A4 Cabriolet Owner by a4cabriosocal

I've been a reader of this forum and others on-line and found the discussions very helpful while making the decision on which vehicle to purchase. After much research on-line, test drives and getting pricing from a half dozen dealers, I chose the A4 Cabriolet.

Now that I've had some time to break in my new Cab, I figured I'd pass along some info for others. I ordered the A4 Cabriolet (1.8T) with the S-Line package back in January and took delivery in May. It's now August and I have to say that this particular vehicle is flawless. Fit and finish are perfect. The CVT transmission is exceptionally smooth and it also adjusts for the turbo lag (I've owned a 1.8T Jetta with the Tiptronic and the turbo lag was very noticeable). The Bose stereo system has great sound with the top down or up. Most of all, the S-Line package is what I feel makes the car distinctive.

Overall, the dealer experience was great and I'm very satisfied with the car.

a4cab,
care to share what you paid for your Cabriolet?

I picked up a new '06 with premium package and Bose for $1,000 over invoice.
This took quite a bit of research and haggling. I started out using the Costco pricing model of $1,500 over invoice, but when some dealers started saying it didn't cover the '06 models I balked and got more aggressive after locating two of the same cars on two different lots.

I have no idea if this is a great price since I have yet to see anyone post what they paid for a Cabriolet here.

The car really is flawless - pick up process and paper work went smooth at Audi of Oakland.

Congrats, a4cabriosocal! I hope you'll also post about your purchase on the Audi A4: Prices Paid & Buying Experience discussion, to help out other folks who are looking to buy an A4.

Hi, read somewhere that it uses about 1 litre (2.2 pints) of oil every 3000 miles as standard, although that was the 2.4.

Might be worth checking though.

Regards, Dave.

I'd prefer not to go into specific pricing. However, I will share that I ordered the car with pretty much every option/package available except for the GPS navigation and the tire pressure monitoring system. I got all invoice pricing from Consumer Reports. I negotiated the deal via e-mail, which I found to be an efficient way to negotiate rather than in person.

Bottom line, I got a great deal (not invoice but certainly not sticker price). After placing my order, my sales person kept me updated on the car's progress via e-mail. When the car finally arrived, similar to your experience, the process was quick and went well. There were no hard sell tactics for aftermarket options. BTW, I dealt with Circle Imports in Long Beach. Based on this purchase experience I would purchase from them again.

What kinds of things have gone wrong with your Bimmer? Every report and article I have read lately rates BMW 3 series just below Toyota and Honda for reliability.

Hi,

Do you have any pictures of the new Sat Nav Plus ?

I'm just about to place an order and I think they are still offering the old one over here in the UK.

Does yours have these MP3 slots behind the screen ?

I can't seem to get any info on the new version and I want to make sure I don't end up with the old one. Although I do want the current model and not this new style "Nuvolari" grill - Ugly or what !

Anyone got any other points to look out for before I part with my cash.

Regards, DDave.

Don't know if you bought yet but the service I've received from my dealer, Audi of mission Viejo, CA has been excellent. Right up there with the service from Fletcher Jones Mercedes.

The A4 1.8T has been fabulous. Everyone loves the aesthetics and riding in it is not too bad either.

The standard sound system is JUST FINE! No need to upgrade unless you really want to rock the world as you drive.

Sorry but the Toyota is just an UGLY car. My opinion but shared by just about anyone that pulls a Solara up alongside the A4 Cab.

Best wishes.

The Sat Nav Plus looks exactly the same as what is in the 2005.5 A4 sedan... yes it has the SD card slots, and contrary to what the manual says, the MP3 reader does fine with large capacity cards (I have a 1 GB card full of MP3s and it works fine!!)

wind screen and rear seat by electricman

I've had my new A4 Cab for two weeks, and love it so far. Two issues:

1. Does use of the wind screen offer a noticeable difference? I've used it once, but didn't notice much difference. Is this typical? If so, I'll consider storing it in the garage.

2. My (kids) only complaint is the lack of a rear seat center arm rest. I don't understand why the center panel was designed to be removable instead of drop down.

Thoughts?
