I spent the last 8 months researching exactly what I wanted in a Tacoma. My research consisted of all major reviews, plus the thousands of posts here at edmunds.com. I sent out email to 45 different toyota dealerships at the same time detailing exactly what option I wanted no the truck. In the mail I requested from each dealer the lowest out the door price including the price of the truck, Doc Fees (if any), Tax, Tag & Title. I said in the email that the dealership with lowest price on Thursday would get my business on Friday. I created a spreadsheet and kept track of the quotes as they came in so that the 1st lowest price would get the business. The price quotes varied as much as $2800. Some dealers never responded, but most sent quotes within 48 hrs. On Thursday I called all the dealerships that were within $500 of the lowest price. All but 2 conceeded. The one I bought from and the other quoted 48 hrs later than the other but was within $25, to be fair I went with the first price. The Tacoma I spec'd was as follows: 2006 Tacoma PreRunner 4x2 Double Cab Long Bed SR5#2 (Keyless, Cruise, Tint, Etc) V6 Toyota Towing Package Side Curtain Airbags All Weather Floor Mats Day Time Running Lights The price I paid at Jim Hudson Toyota in Irmo, SC (Near Columbia, SC) was $23810 for the truck + $189 Doc Fee = $23,999. I did almost everything via email with the exception of a few phone calls. The MSRP on this truck's sticker was $26159. I arrived at the dealership this past Saturday at 10:45 am and I drove out with all paperwork completed at 12:04 PM. Jim Hudson Toyota in Irmo, SC is AWESOME.

Replying to: loophead (Nov 07, 2005 9:40 pm) He told me "like 24,5" and then proceeded to tell me he was only going to give me 12.5 for my 03 sierra 4x2 with extended cab, leer cap, rhino liner with 42,000 miles. I'll keep shopping till I come up with something. |

I researched Jim Hudson, they seem to have nice selection of trucks with what I'm looking for.The only problem is,they are almost 700 miles away from here (over 11hr road trip)I also found them in NC,as well as Virginia. The dealerships up here order mostly 4x4's.I'm going to have to consider a road trip at the end of the month if I can't locate one near south jersey.

Replying to: reane (Nov 07, 2005 7:11 pm) Just bought the following: Tacoma Double Cab V6, 6 Speed, TRD Off Road, Tow Package, 6-Disc CD Skid Plate, Tint and a couple other extras. Got 4% over invoice. Total was $27,700; tax and title brought it up to 29,500. Painless purchase at Sterling McCall Toyota. I showed up, told them what I wanted and they looked up the assembly line schedule until they found one. Got it a few days before schedule. Note that the vehicles caome from the factory with just the basics such as TRD and Stereo Packages. Anything noted as port options (PIO) can be added or removed. |

Replying to: reane (Nov 07, 2005 7:01 pm) I came in there looking for a new car for my cousin. They said they a wide selection to pick from. I turned out they only had 2 in the lot. Their reason was i might have mis-heard them on the phone. When i came to price, they said that they could only do for (-100) from msrp. If i wanted the car with the price they would have the used one. I got sick at this dealership. I will never shop their again. Go somewhere else for better C.S & price |

I just purchased a 2006 Tacoma Doublecab 4X4 and I am looking for the best price available on the Toyota Extra Care Platinum Extended Warranty, 7 year, 100,000 miles with $0 deductible. I have searched the posts and found several indicating that Toyota of Greenfield has good prices. From what I have read the price should be around $875. I just e:mailed Troy and that dealership and asked for a quote. Does anyone have recent experience with purchasing this warranty and how much were you able to negotiate? Thank you in advance. Wes
