#7978 of 8898 Hyundai Sonata 2012 GLS
Aug 26, 2011 (12:41 pm)
I am a recent nursing graduate and looking to buy a 2012 Sonata GLS. I have read edmunds and followed their tips. I have quotes from dealers and need help with my decision. What would be best price a 2012 Sonata GLS (automatic) with the popular package. What is the basic accessories needed? I read people got floor mats, mud guards, ipod cable and TTL? This would be my first new car that I bought and I always want to research and make the best of decisions. My first car is a Mitsibushi Mirage 2000 that was given to me by a relative so now that I am on my own, working as nurse, I want something nice and affordable yet fuel efficient.
So far quotes are
1. GLS with Pop package 22,400 + Doc fee 389 + 37 title + tax 1597.82 = $24,423.82 (This is out of my state)
2. GLS with Pop package 22,644 + Doc fee 599 + 22 title + tax 1394.58 = $24,659.68.
3. GLS with Pop package 22,470 + Doc fee 399.99 + 39 (DMV)+ 3 GMV + tax 1600.90 = $24,512. ( This will give me 400 graduate incentive)
4. GLS with Pop package 21655 + Doc fee 599 + 22 title + tax 1335.24= $23,611.24

22000 for automatic GLS sounds expensive. Please check truecar.com for best prices near your area and try negotiating on that price. For southern california I found $20292 without the popular package (which is $750, I guess). You should be able to get for $21000, which is a decent price. You can ask for recent grad coupon on top of this price. I'd not pay beyond $20500+tax, doc fee and license. I'd be excited at $20k though!
Hope that helps!

I have decided to make an offer of $20890 for a 2012 Sonata GLS automatic with popular package. I hope to hear from all 5 dealers soon so I can get this car and move on. I am tired and my old car is almost giving up on me.
Thanks doks51 for your input
#7981 of 8898 Used 2011 Sonata Limited

So excited! Just put a deposit down on a one owner, used black 2011 Sonata Limited. We paid $23,000 for it, so we saved a few thousand buying used. The previous owner always had it serviced at the dealership and it looks brand new and in excellent condition. I really love the panoramic sunroof in the 2012, but decided for the money we saved I can live with the standard sun roof. I drive 60+ miles round trip to work everyday and so PUMPED to be driving this car come this weekend! I've never had a car with so many "bells and whistles" and told the salesman I'll need a class before I drive it off the lot. He said that was not a problem to bring my phone and IPod and he'd get me all hooked up. I was trying to see other than the sunroof what the difference is between the 2011 and the 2012, can anyone help?

Good luck. Am sure you'll enjoy it.
But I always wonder why someone would trade in their almost new current year car.

BTW,23k looks good. How many miles did the car put up by the time you offered this amount?

And does this car has a Nav in it?

I'm buying a GLS this weekend with no pop package in Dallas/FW area. How have you all gotten quotes? I try to find a specific contact on the dealers websites, but all I see is the generic "contact us for a quote" page. Am I really going to be successful going through that page? Whenever I've gotten quotes in the past it's usually been BS numbers or "come on down to discuss"

That looks like an excellent price. I just got 25581 on Limited w/o navigation. This includes $500 lease rebate. It also had cargo mat, cargo net and floor mats.
