Your right about the wheels. I just assumed they were larger because when I had both vehicles side by side the Sonata's definitely looked bigger. Must be the profile. Sonata has 215/55-17 and Fusion has 225/50-17 tires. I think maybe because the Sonata's sidewall is taller and slightly more narrow it gave the appearance of being an 18" wheel. I'm actually looking at getting a Fusion with the Sports appearance package which gives you 18" wheel and a nicer spoiler than I would be getting on the SEL. Have to drive it to know if I like the ride though. I'm planning on driving the SEL V6, SEL V6 w/sports appearance, and the Hyundai Limited V6 tomorrow morning. I don't actually need to buy a car until next spring, but I've got the new car bug right now and I don't know how to cure it. Also, worried that if by chance the economy gets turned around the deals being offered won't be as good. Probably won't offer anything that great on a 2010 right after it's introduce either. What is the deal with these companies putting out new models so early anyway? 2009 Sonata was available in spring of '08 and you're saying ford is putting out a 2010 in early '09.

Get your current car detailed.. that can do the trick for awhile.

That's funny...but also true.

You get an "atta boy" for that one.

Hey, it's worked for me in the past! A lot cheaper than a new car too.

Another way to beat the new car bug is to get a really nice used car. Just did that one.

Went this morning and test drove a Fusion V6 with the sports appearance package, the SEL V6, Hyundai Sonata V6 Limited, and Hyundai Azera w/Ultimate Package. The Sonata is not even close to the Fusion SEL in ride and driving comfort. Sonata's suspension was very loud when going over bumps. Everything about the Sonata's interior seemed second rate to the Fusion which had Heated Leather seats, Moonroof, and the upgraded stereo sytsem. For me the Fusion was just better in every way and I went into the search with a bias toward the Sonata. The Fusion with the sports appearance package blew all of them away in handling, but the ride is maybe a bit too firm for me. The 18" wheels were gorgeous along with the spoiler. The optional equipment on the Fusion SEL was the Moon & Tune Package, Rear Spoiler, Reverse Sensing, and all weather floor mats. The SEL comes with heated leather seats, climate control, Ambient interior lighting, Sync Voice activated sytem, 6 months of Sirius satellite, steering wheel mounted audio controls, and much more. Of course the Sonata is similarly equipped. Now the Azera was better than both. Incredibly quite smooth ride. Hyundai sounded like they were really desperate to make a sale, but at that point I was getting tired, so I told them I'd get back with them. The Azera w/ultimate had a MSRP of $31,000 roughly so unless they are really willing to come down in price it's more than I want to spend on a car right now. The numbers on the Fusion are: MSRP $26,715 OTD including tax, title, etc. $24050. Taxes are 6.75% and are calculated on the MSRP.

4cyl or 6cyl by cosmo15

Well I went to the dealership with all intentions of test driving and buying a 4 cyl limited. I made the mistake of driving a 6cyl limited. The 6cyl was much smoother and more powerful. The 4cyl was was ok but i noticed the engine was louder and seemed to strain a bit on acceleration. So now im very confused on which one to buy. I truly liked the 6cyl better but it gets worse gas mileage 19/29 compared to 22/32. It does not seem like alot but today it is for me. Needless to say the 6 cyl is about two thousand more.... The 6 cyl puts the price and gas mileage in a category that compares to other vehicles l like as well. But again the 6 cyl was very nice.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The Fusion I'm considering buying was all black inside. Leather on the Fusion was much better quality. Center console where you rest your arm was positioned much better. Seat was much more comfortable in the Fusion. Sonata's interior just seemed very cheap. I own a 2003 Sonata LX which has been a good car so I went in thinking the Sonata would win out hands down. The clunking noise from the rear suspension every time I went over a bump would drive me crazy. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I don't know but unless you drive an SEL fully loaded and then drive the Sonata you can't know what I'm talking about. Anyway I still think Hyundai is a great maker of cars and they will always be a Manufacturer I will consider in future purchases.

If you really prefer the Azera (hoipefully it's a 2009, it has some tweaks including improved suspension), why not tell the Hyundai dealer that you can get the Fusion for $26,175, but if they can meet or beat that you'll get the Azera. You never know... $5k discounts are pretty common on Sonatas, so maybe they would do a little more off an Azera to move one here at the end of the month.

No it's a 2008. We never got down to numbers. They just stated that the rebate would be $3500 before we even work out a deal. Of course, the $26,715 was negotiated down to $24,447 and there was a $2500 rebate on the Fusion. So to get the Azera down to that ballpark would be quite a bit. I would have considered a Camry XLE V6 if I'm looking to spend what the Azera runs, but because I want to stay within a certain price I have to look at Ford and Hyundai Sonata. Plus I want the luxury items such as leather and Moon Roof. I'm spoiled since both my vehicles I currently own have leather. I don't know maybe they will call me and give me a number. The Sales Manager and the Salesman seemed desperate and disappointed when I told them the Sonata was out. I've been dealing with these people since July and they know me by first name as soon as they see me.
