We pay for our "free" health care with long waiting lists and higher taxes.

My sister-in-law is from Vancouver and she has said the same thing, but still thinks it's better than in the States. She now lives in Portland with my Brother and their 2 Daughters. I say no thanks. I'll stick with the plans that are offered by my wife and my employers. At least I get to pick my doctor and get in immediately. No bureaucrat telling me when and where to go to get a heart cath when and if I need it.

I don't know what dealer fees and state taxes are in TX but I would say you are pushing it. You may be able to get to $21500 out the door for a 09 GLS V6 auto.

The invoice on this would be $22829 plus you would have to purchase alloy wheels which would probably be another $600 or so. If you can get them to $1500 below invoice and then subtract the $1500 cash rebate you would be at $20429. Add your tax/doc fees/title....you would be close to $21500.

Thank you soooo much. That helps me. My budget is $20,000. Could I get a 2008 Sonata with the same options 6 cyl, sunroof, allow wheels and be out the door for $20,000?

It may be difficult to find this combo as the 2008s are almost gone. However, if you can, you should be able to get it for about $2000 less or $19500 out the door.

I was picking up my license plates on Monday, at the Renton, WA dealer I bought the car from {08 GLS V6}, and of course took a look at the 09 Limited in the showroom..... definitely an improvement in the interior, but, out the door, this car would probably have been 23k. Taxes here might be a bit higher than Texas.....

However, there were still several '08s on the lot. And it looked like some of these equipped with everything, could come close to your 20k figure. Maybe under.......

Good luck...... I sure like mine

My situation a bit different than most by auld_dawg

My credit isn't the greatest, as I've been bankrupt, got divorced, and didn't do much to reestablish credit during the last five years as I tried to keep my small manufacturing firm afloat {too much debt}

Having paid off the machinery, and having my daily driver, a 94 Merc Sable, decide it was time to quit....... My thought was to get into a car without getting ripped up having to pay a premium for said car, or pay extortionist interest rate {a friend of mine paid 23% to get a repo'd Focus}

It came down to an '07 Taurus rental return with everything, or the '08 GLS V6 (new} that I bought. Price difference was 6k. However, the Sonata is so much more car, can't be expressed in a few words...... {two different dealers}

With the 3k rebate, and the dealer discount, I paid $4500 less than the sticker. Price of car including the above, was $16,999. "Out the Door" with the taxes etc, was a bit of 19k. But all things considered, I feel pretty good about things.

If my credit had been excellent, I could have beat the interest rate {I got 11%}, and probably would have been in a stronger position to talk price. Considering my position, I think I did well.......

I just bought a 2009 Sonata GLS 4 cyl. automatic, with the power package (no sunroof) floor mats, cargo mat, and got it for $17,725 plus 2.75% sales tax and $16.50 title fee. $18,229 out the door. I also had to wait for the dealer to locate one and do the dealer trade. I pick it up Friday.

I'll just note that's about 1k higher than some people are paying. I think realistically you wanna look for 16.5-17k on a GLS with power package and 16.0-16.5k for a base GLS.
