We have all made financial mistakes. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just enjoy your new car. And when it comes to buying anything that takes negotiation - the best rule to remember is "no one is your "friend". They are there to separate you from as much of your money is possible." May be pessimistic, but it's true!

I think i pay too much for my 09 GLS too,

almost 18500 after tax and all the fee plus my trade in. (1000 for the trade)

What was the price before taxes, license, fees, and trade-in? What was the MSRP of the car, including destination?

There's only a $1000 general rebate on the 2009 Sonata (and $500 loyalty), so great deals will be hard to come by on them right now. They're not at the fire-sale prices of the 2008s.

So it looks to me like you got the car for well under invoice, depending on which rebates you qualified for. So, what's the problem?

I think i &#65359- ;nly got t&#65352- ;e 1000 re&#65346- ;ate, for &#65364- ;he 09 GLS&#65292- ;  after t&#65345- ;x, fee, l&#65353- ;cense and&#12288- ;my trade,&#12288- ;the cost &#65359- ;f the car&#12288- ;out the d&#65359- ;or is 20,&#65296- ;00 dollar&#65294- ;

I keep seeing people on this forum got 08 sonata at a much cheaper price sometime even the SE edition. so i am not sure if my deal is good. I just hope i got it for average price.

I bought the car less than 2 hour from the moment i saw the 09 model.

Apples to oranges. There's a $3000 rebate on the 2008s, plus dealers are routinely offering them at well below invoice (below rebates) to clear them out. The 2009 is a much improved car over the 2008, and discounts aren't as big on the 2009s right now.

Not much to be done, really. The Elantra was a nice car too, and I was looking at them fairly seriously.....with the rebate situation the OTD was only $500 more for the Sonata.

Unless you are a pro, at some point on some deal you are going to get screwed. And in reality, you didn't really get screwed. Try to buy any other car on the market with the equipment level of an Elantra, or any Hyundai for that matter. You'll never get a Cobalt to that level at any price, the Sentra i looked at was similar but was a $20K car, the Focus was $19K and not nearly as comfortable for me as the elantra, or for that matter the old Focus, a similar Corolla is going to run about $19K, so you paid more than you like, maybe more than you needed to but it's only money and letting it eat at you won't put a single dime back in your pocket. Enjoy the car!
