You should just chalk this up as a lesson learned. Is the trade in noted in your figures the same one that died in the middle of the road? If so, they gave up probably $650 to you. Figuring that your trade in had an ACV (actual cash value) of $50 to the dealer. Maybe a $100 if it was running.

The best thing you should do is drive the car, enjoy the car and pay it off early. By my calcs your payment is $277 prox.....pay $300 a month and pay it a few weeks early you'll save money that way.

A good way to hurt the selling dealer is tell all your friends about this and they should shop elsewhere. BTW don't go back and confront them again this just gives them something to talk about. Save your energy for saving the whales or something.

Well, I truly feel for you. Car buying is one of the sickest things and there is nothing much anyone can do other than just research on various sites and have a better handle on landing at a fair price or at least a price where we don't feel really bad after buying!

If you are really hell bent on taking up the sales receipt and shoving it up their $%#, I can provide my 2008 Sonata Limited V6 receipt (not sure whether it will help you as I don't have an Elantra) with all the personal info blackened out.

Btw, if you go to http://www.fitzmall.com/, what price does it quote for the Elantra with your exact specs? Probably, you can show them that site and tell them how much you got screwed! I didn't do any research on Elantras but 2008 Sonatas are selling for so less and these dealers scam the not-so-rich-but-really-hard-working-people - how can they even sleep at night? Mind boggling!

Btw, I just keyed in 2008 Elantra GLS with popular equipment package + mats and the FitzMall says it's $13,217.00 (MSRP of $16,980.00) - see here for details - http://www.fitzmall.com/fitzway/carfind/RESULTSB.ASP?V_XREFID=R04H31895539391449- 90

Maybe, you can show the dealer this site and tell them that they can become millionaires buying cars from them - sick jacks!

Their reply would just be "well why don't you just drive to New Jersey and buy it then, nobody sells them for that around here". I say save the stress and just enjoy the car. $1500 bucks or so is a costly mistake but it's certainly not the end of the world. Lots of people make a lot worse ones, look at the real estate market.

If a dealer senses that you are in a jamb or a hurry for a new car it is like blood in the water.

its more like $3400.. too bad i didn't do any research.. my budget 3 weeks ago was around 35k.. i did research on many cars, but i never even bothered researching on cars under 20k.. i went in to save money, save payments and feel free for next 10 years on a good reliable car... i got a good car, but hate the fact that i got ripped off.

We have all made financial mistakes. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just enjoy your new car. And when it comes to buying anything that takes negotiation - the best rule to remember is "no one is your "friend". They are there to separate you from as much of your money is possible." May be pessimistic, but it's true!

almost 18500 after tax and all the fee plus my trade in. (1000 for the trade)

What was the price before taxes, license, fees, and trade-in? What was the MSRP of the car, including destination?

There's only a $1000 general rebate on the 2009 Sonata (and $500 loyalty), so great deals will be hard to come by on them right now. They're not at the fire-sale prices of the 2008s.

The MSRP of the car is 20,700 something. price before tax fee and trade in was 17500.
