Sounds like they are pretty close. We don't have sales tax in AK except for a few municipalities and they usually cap it at $15, that saved me 1100 right there, plus my DMV fees are $275 all inclusive and they didn't charge me a documentation fee. So, compared to my deal- $600 for the AT, $650 for the popular equipment package, $1156 for sales tax, I don't think you are going to do much better on the Sonata than what's offered. For reference, try this- http://www.hyundaiusa.com/ and use the build your own function. Hope this helps a bit. If you can find a "strippo" like mine, which is not even close to being a strippo, maybe you can get a better OTD. FWIW, the 5 spd really makes the car fun to drive. Honda and toyota may offer 5 speeds but I have never seen a 5 spd on a mid size car here, the local dealer does not order them so equipped.

I just got home from the local Hyundai dealer with a new 2008 SE 5sp manual on an overnight test. The car has carpeted floor mats but no other options. The MSRP including destination is $20,280. I've been offered the car for $15,000 plus tax, title, and license. This seems to be an excellent deal to me. What do you experts think? |

| Since you have it overnight, try to find a gravel area or some other place to test the ESC. I tested mine in snow and was absolutely astounded at the difference it makes. I tried to get the Sonata sideways in a parking lot, wouldn't do it, turned off the ESC and it acted like most every other FWD car does in the slick. It's a bit choppy when it kicks in off the line, pulling away from a stoplight and the car kind of goes chop chop chop. Anyway, this is the first car I've had with full ESC and it's an eye opener. | |

I am in FL, looking at a 08 Sonata GLS (Grey Steel) with popular equipment package. The price with the package is 16,325 (not including tax, title, or dealer fee). This seems like a good deal as, even including rebate (of $ 3,000) it is below invoice. I also really want leather in the car and the dealer has offered to install it for $900. I have called up several dealers and the lowest they would go was $1000 with most of them saying it would actually be $1200. So how does $17,225 sound for a Sonata GLS with popular package and leather? Technically, it might be a little cheaper ($100 or so) as the quote was originally for a pearl white car and I decided I wanted the grey (though I really only like the silver So, 1) good deal, and 2) good color? Thanks |
