Thanks for the help and advice. I'll be looking into these other dealerships.

Is there anything to keep in mind if we decide to buy a car out of state? (We live in NJ, what should I know if I decide to buy in DE or PA?)

Thanks again

Let the dealer know you are coming from out of state, as there may be different ways of handling things like taxes and license fees in that case (e.g. maybe you'll pay license fees in your home state vs. at the place you buy the car). Also I know some states in the Northeast follow the CAFE emissions standards. But I don't know what effect that would have on buying a car from a non-CAFE state--maybe a resident of one of those states can comment on that.

Thanks for the reply backy. Just bought the car today for an out the door price of $15,400. Includes ALL fees - tax, processing fees, destination charge, etc. I know the original quote was $14,800, but managed to get the popular package w/ sunroof for an extra $600 (valued at $1550). They threw in floormats as well.

The MSRP was $21095. The actual price (w/o any of the fees) of the car with the sunroof popular package was $13,700.

To answer your question, I am in Northern VA and there were two dealership that were very comparable with their quotes. The buying experience was a very good one and feel as if I got an incredible deal.

If you could post the dealer name (not the salesperson) it would be appreciated.

What a great deal--getting the package with moonroof and floormats for only $600 was icing on the cake! That is a lotta car for $13,700 + TTL.

May i know when you said Popular Package, is that mean package #1 or Package #2 or Package #3?

Base on what you said sound like you have package #3?

You are correct - Package 3 (popular package w/sunroof).

It looks as if dealerships are really pushing to unload the 08 Sonatas, so if you're in the market for a car, this a great opportunity!

Thanks, good ideas...

By the way, does anybody have an opinion on the Sonata w/ 5 speed? They seem to be the dirt cheapest. I don't mind the 5 speed, but can't seem to wiggle my financial way into the V6, so the 4cyl is probably what we're going with. Fitzmall has one for $14,202- hard to beat that price, I think...

Thoughts?

NYC price for 08 Sonata GLS 4cyl auto? by kagedude

I've been checking out the 08 Sonata GLS 4cyl auto with no packages at dealerships and they keep taking 3K off the MSRP to just $16,545. I am in the NYC area, do you think I can get a better deal than this? How is it possible to get it down to $13700 or $14800. Thanks.
