2008 SE V6 by dennyjk

Just bought a 2008 Sonata SE V6, base package with floormats, from Ed Voyles Hyundai in Smyrna, GA for 20,250 before rebates/TTL. Invoice was 21,769 on Edmunds, which matched the invoice the dealer showed me. Went with the 0% financing + $500 rebate, total OTD price was 21,500. I'm pretty happy with the final price, and especially with the 0% financing. The salesperson and finance guy were friendly and easy to work with, too; the whole process was pretty painless. This is the first new car I've bought, my previous rides were always old beaters. I plan to be driving this one long after even Hyundai's warranty runs out.

Sounds like you got a real good deal. Lower prices can be found, but not a 0% financing. That 0% is worth a few thousand bucks over the life of a 5 year loan.

Good luck with your new car.

How long for your 0% financing? 4 year, 5 year or 6 year?

How much down pay?

 Thanks

20,250 was before taxes/fees and rebates. 21,500 was the total price out the door after everything. I had money for a $6000 down payment and had planned to do a four-year loan, but since I got the 0% financing, I elected to put zero down and went with the six-year financing; the down payment went back into my savings account, where it'll stay for at least the life of the loan, and each month I have an automatic savings plan that will transfer the difference in monthly payments between the 6-year loan and the 4-year into the same account. The reason I did that was so I can earn the ~4% interest on that money and still have it available to cover the gap in the event that the car is totaled in an accident or I have to sell it when I'm upside-down. I wouldn't advise that approach if you are paying interest on your loan, of course, or if you can't make yourself put away your would-be down payment and never touch it for anything else for the course of your loan.

While you have that downpayment money in a savings account and will be adding to it monthly, I'd still suggest that you check with your car insurance company about GAP insurance. Not all insurance companies offer it. Here in CT, the two companies I represent offer it for a very reasonable price, less than auto finance companies/dealers typically charge.

Ask your insurance compay about it to see what they charge. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted on this site. It really helped my wife and I in the purchase of our new Sonata. Here is the important stuff:
2008 Sonata Limited V6-White with Leather, OTD price $20,800 with 0% interest for 72 months. Monthly payment of $289.30. Traded in our 2006 Honda Accord and got $16,800 ($4,000 over pay-off). If you are wanting a GREAT buying experience go to BILL WHITE HYUNDAI of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Really enjoyed the buying experience from those guys.

I went into the dealership tonight and told them that i wanted a Sonata V6 Limited with moonroof for 22.5k and they just told me they couldn't do it. I am going to start another post with the details but your details would be EXTREMLY appreciated.

thanks,

Hi guys. Well im pretty close to getting a car. Maybe the next few weeks here. I went into the hyundai dealership because i seen the have AWESOME financing deal of 0% for 72 months + 500 cash back. I go in looking for a 08 Sonata V6 Limited with a moonroof. The only one the had was white which i wouldn't want. Id want either silver or grey. I went in there with a price in mind what i wanted to pay for the car 22.5k. They of course said they couldn't get me this price and tried normal dealer tricks of giving me the most they could for my trade in and then charging me 25.5k for the sonata and then showing my payments would be only $338 a month (which im sure a lot of people fall for) but im not that stupid smile.gif. Ive seen a hyundai dealership in ohio sell pretty much what im looking for for pretty close to 22.5k. I guess my reason for this thread is to ask you what is a "safe" price to ask for this car but a price that, for the most part, dealers would accept. Is my asking price of 22.5k way to low? What would you consider to be in the safe range for what im looking at? If i am going to get a sonata i definitly want to get in this deal before the end of the year because i will get $500 cash back on my offer to them and then 0% for 72 months which is just awesome. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
ncage
