My friend who bought a new Azera from Towne in April and a used Sonata for his son in June, learned that they use a service for handling out of state (non-NJ) registration & title processing, that costs Towne some of that $200. We looked at their bottom line price.
Sligg, we've been through this before: would you rather pay $16,651 plus $189 doc fee or $17,500 plus $39 doc fee? Simple question. Simple "yes" or "no" answer.
I knew the title & reg fees were higher than the actual CT fees. However, I also knew Towne's price was over $2,500 less than the local dealer wanted (before adding his doc fee at $378 plus about $75 override on the title & reg).
Compared to Fitzmall's doc fee of only $99, Towne's price was still $800 better (plus they are only 100 miles away vs 400+/- miles to DC area).
Towne sold the car for $4400 under invoice (including the rebates), $5429 less than sticker on a $22,080 MSRP.
You're just too hung up on the amount of doc fee any dealers charges. We all know the doc fee is 100% to the dealer, but "so what" if the dealers has discounted the price enough?

Did you buy from Hyundai of Decatur? They are giving me the best deal by at least $500, but I don't want to drive 4 hours from atlanta just to be disappointed. Any info would be appreciated on that dealer.

Hi. I need to find a good dealer in New York on a 2008 sonata gls auto option pkg 1. The lowest price I have come across is $ 19,500 Oh I would like to lease this vehicle. I tried 3 dealers today and everyone gave me the impression that they have no idea about leases?

I completed the deal last night for a Steel Gray 07 SE with sunroof. I couldn't get any Atlanta dealers to match Towne Hyundai's internet pricing. Hyundai of Decatur in Alabama's price for a Base SE was 17k, but was a 4 hour drive. When I was single, w/out a 6 month old, I would not hesitate to make that drive! The closest I could get was 17.5k in Atlanta at Jim Ellis. Their internet sales from day one was the best to work with in the area. However, they thought they had the car, but didn't. They had to dealer trade, but there's not a lot of stock around here. No dealer would release the cars for trades, especially b/c I was negotiating with them on those cars. So Jim Ellis sold me an SE with moonroof for:
17,942.50 selling price including dealer fees
1256 tax (7%)
42 tag/title/lemon
=19415
-1200 trade in
-400 college graduate just got my doctorate (pat myself on the back)
-500 finance thru HFMC at 7.69%
Total=17190
I was going to pay cash, but wanted to take advantage of the rebate/college rebate. The APR is not so good even though I have top FICO, but I can pay off after 90 days. As for the trade in of my 99 Taurus, Carmax offered less, so I just took their first offer. My wife is happy with the car, so I'm happy!

Oh, also, I decided against the extended warranty. I thought it was a zero deductible and agreed to 950 (first offer was 1595!), but found out it's a 100$ deductible. Ouch! I remember somewhere there's a forum about the warranty from Hyundai. Anyone know where I can get more info? Thanks!

Congratulations on the doctorate.
New baby. Mrs. obviously isn't working with newborn. Also assume you were full time student. And still able to pay cash.
Now that calls for CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats to you! You deserve a new car. I went back to the ealership to get my plates put on yesterday. I am happy with Saturn. It seems like I finallystarted to learn something in looking and researching, but I had to get a car.

My buying story, on a 07 SE with sunroof added, I just paid 18.5K, this included all the rebates including the $500 Hyundai financing which I did not want but to get another $500 off I finally thought why not? I will pay it off asap, dealer said to wait at least 3 months. Not sure if this is a good deal or not but I just got fed up squabbling over a few hundred and was ready to bail out until they finally dropped a few hundred off to get it to this final price. I still have to pay the sales tax (in RI it is at 7%) and the registration fees. They had it on the lot at 20.3K marked down from 23k (not that that means much)
