Boltman:

Thank you so much. It was a very informative reply. Is it possible for you to give me the breakup of the price you paid. When you said $400 below invoice, was it inclusive of delivery charge, advertisement fee etc?

Once again thank you for a ery informative response.

Regards,
Dave

price for a 2006 sonata GL, GLS or LX by chevymalibu

I posted a long message on the 2006 sonata board but want to post the $$$ I was told at my dealer in SC.

GL was 19500 MSRP and they said 19200 is the best they can do. I said some are going for 200 over invoice of 18000 or 18200. They said no way.

Said LX's were going at 250 below MSRP. Same for the GLS's.

Hyundai better call Honda and Toyota cause they're selling at or below invoice. I won't pay 19200 for a GL 2006 sonata period.

It all goes back to demand and supply. The dealers will sell whatever the market will bear. If you are trading in a vehicle or selling it to a private party, you would try to get maximum selling price on your end. Why should the Hyundai dealer or any dealers for that matter be any different.

Can you blame Ford dealers for marking up above MSRP on the GT 8 cylinder knowing full well there are back orders for them. Again demand outstripping the supply. As many posters have said here time after time, you don't want to pay close to msrp than wait a while. If you are one of those who have to have it now, than don't blame the dealers.

Great points norne. The 06 Sonata will soon have more incentives than the Camry or Accord have EVER offered. They are just starting to dip their toes into rebates for the first time. That proves what a great time it is to buy a new car. Especially considering both Honda and Toyo are offering freshened models of the Accord and Camry soon. If you think you'll see incentives on those models any time soon, you're sadly mistakened..

2006 Sonata GLS V6 w/ sunroof by zzyzxx

Just purchased a 2006 GLS V6 w/ sunroof from dealer in LA. Paid $21595 +TL (including transferable 10/100 bumper to bumber upgrade service plan and minus $500 owner loyalty rebate) MSRP was $22345.
$20600 for car ($20615 invoice w/o Ad fees)
+ $1495 for service plan
- $500 owner loyalty rebate
$21595 total +Tax & License (no tax on the service plan)
Considering that most dealers are tacking on $500 for Ad fees to invoice and would have considered $500 for service plan a good deal, feel like I paid $500 over invoice.
Not bad for a dealer 2 miles from house that received their first V6 3 days earlier.

2006 Sonata LX w/ option #3 by baron71

Bought my new 2006 Sonata LX with moonroof and other goodies today for $22,500 + TTL. Only found 2 LX's for sale within a 500 mile radius. (none to be found in the Minneapolis area at all) Financed through the dealership at 4.65%. I was afraid I would have a hard time working the dealer down from MSRP due to supply/demand issues in my area, so I was very happy with the price I paid. Took home one in Deepwater Blue--love this color. Looks black in the shade, but once the sun hits it-what a beautiful shade of blue! On my drive home I stopped for gas, had two guys asking about the car and they loved the color. Never had anyone comment on a car I was driving (well, at least not favorably) so was fun experience for me.

that's $300+ under invoice. Are you not counting destination or deducting loyalty rebate? If not, wow!

I hear you loud and clear but it appears the same 3 (4 cyls) are still on the lot. I haven't written down the vehicle numbers but it also appears the V6's are still sitting there too. It's not like when I go there and most are gone until a new shipment comes in. I've visited that lot almost every weekend for 6 weeks now. I've also visited the toyota lot too studying the camrys. Of course there is a XLE camry for 24.8K and they came down to 23.6K (bite me). Gee, it didn't have leather, alloy rims, nor sat radio. My 2004 accord was 24.8K and we got it for 22.4K and it has all those items. In toyota's defense, the accord didn't have a spare tire (I paid 150 for that) and didn't have a JBL stereo. All in all, hyundai has to come down. Now I got an email from the internet guy saying he'll sell me the car for 100 over his net but all I did was email him the internet invoice prices. I don't know his "cost" and how that compares to the invoice on the net. If it's near my price, I probably will buy. Otherwise, it's the camry.

so you basically paid "invoice" pricing but with that 1495 warranty, they assumed if the car lasts to 100K (if that's your total extended time), then that's all gravy in the bank. I know, you have peace of mind that if anything goes up to your mileage/time limit, it's free. Good deal. Now I now they are going for invoice and 1200 over invoice will tell me to let it sit on the lot. Thanks for you numbers.
