He wouldn't even get near $20K - needless to say we walked and fast....He was one of those guys who said he had a "great deal" for us (needless to say his definition and mine were different) but only on that day!! Name of the dealer was Hyundai Auto Mall in Kyle, TX, just north of San Marcos on I-35.

Anyway, total taxes, feed registration was $800 What is very interesting is how they write up the sale. The sales numbers put into the bill of sale don't reflect anywhere near to how the actual deal was done.

Let them know that the vehicle they have is not the one you want. Make it appear that you are not getting what you ( ex: color of interior/exterior )and negotiate based on what they do have on the lot. They will lower their price to make the deal worth it. The guy took $800 off to take one of the vehicles he had on the lot. At this point, you continue to go back and forth between calling the dealers to say that you have gotten a better deal at another dealer. Don't visit them until you think you have gotten close to their final number. Once I got to $17,800 he said he wouldn't quote any more numbers over the phone. I then visited the dealer and continued to work the numbers from there. Finally, make sure you are talking with the sales manager, he/she is the only one who can get to the lowest dollar amount.

Replying to: bhmr59 (Jun 07, 2006 8:06 pm) The said on it they gave me $9600 for my trade. They actually gave me $7,650. You're right, when the are prepared to show someone my "old" car they will show them the $9600 amount "trade-in". That way if they sell it for $10,000, they can say "we only made $400", when in fact, they'll make $2,350. Very sneaky move and without a doubt I'm sure they would do this. |
