Has anyone gotten a great price from a dealer in upstate NY or NJ, The best price I can find in my local Albany NY area is about $500 over invoice. I'm looking to get an LX, no options.
  Thanks

GLS vs LX by zhusky

I've seen multiple posts where buyers are getting a better deal on the LX than the GLS. I was just given an offer of $17,450 on a GLS-V6 after $2,500 rebate (Denver, CO). Can I really get an LX for that same price or better?

Hoping to buy TODAY.

apples to apples (I got a $500 loyalty rebate also), my base LX was 17,700. You have a good deal there, I think you'll need to get lucky to do better by very much. But joedirt just got his GLS for sub 16k.... we're waiting to hear the details about that one.

Sounds similiar to the price that Freeman Hyundai in Irving offers, as they were selling the GLS for $15,388.00 which included the $2500.00 rebate and $500.00 for owner loyalty. Just goes to show how the market drives the price, here in San Antonio both Honda and Toyota dealers are more willing to make deals.

Wow!
Congrats, Joe, on your bargain price!
You may have the record for a GLS V6 with a $22,391 MSRP.
Nice going. Enjoy!

I got my GLS V6 w/ Premium Sport Pkg for 16,900 (including 500 loyalty rebate). Would have been 15,450 without Sport Pkg. Best deal I could find in the Baltimore/Washington area.

I am not "good" at the whole haggling thing. I currently have an Elantra that I think I did fair on. This car is for my mom. We are in the 32712 zip code if that matters. But I just want to know what I should not go ABOVE as far asa pricing goes!

Thanks,
Lee

If you want a rough rule of thumb, don't go above the published invoice price (as per Edmunds.com for example) LESS any rebates you qualify for. That is before any taxes, license, or other fees. So for example if invoice is $20,000 and you qualify for $2500 in rebates, your target ceiling should be $17,500, plus tax, license, and reasonable fees like a small documentation fee. Keep in mind that is a rough rule of thumb; some dealers will not sell the car for invoice less rebates, and at others you can do substantially better with some negotiations, and depending on what hidden incentives are available at that point in time. If possible have someone go with you who is good at the "haggling thing."

After much dealing and many dealers, we finally settled at $20,427 plus $2,500 rebate. Edmunds.com Invoice price shows $20,661. TMV shows $20,788.
