Hi all, Been reading this forum for a few weeks and decided to post my Sonata buying experience thus far. I am employing the "fax attack" strategy this week from fightingchance.com. I am in the Phoenix area and have faxed 14 of the 15 Hyundai dealers in AZ. About half have responded. I am looking for GLS V6 with option pkg 5 (sunroof, power drivers seat, etc.). Not into LX as not into leather in general, plus I live in AZ and I think leather generates too much heat in the sun. Suprisingly, many of the dealers I spoke with claim the LX sells well here. Anyway, GLS V6 with pkg 5 invoice is $21,213. So far the best quote I have is $1500 below invoice price, $19,713, before rebates. The best rate I can get outside of Hyundai is 6.59%, so probably will go with Hyundai's 2.9% + $1000 rebate offer. I did the math and it's better than taking the $2000 with the higher APR. I also qualify for college grad rebate. I may trade in my old 96 Pontiac Grand AM as well, perhaps $600-800 so I figure the OTD will be under $20K, maybe $19,660 or so. Tomorrow (Wed) I will call all of them and see if any of the others will lower their price to earn my business. Under $20K for this vehicle sure beats the heck out of Camry, Accord, Altima or whatever. Just hope the depreciation doesn't bite me in the back end in 5-8 years. |

| Current $2000 incentive runs through 5/1. Has this incentive been consistent of the last many months? Planning to buy a Sonata within the next 4-6 weeks. Wondering if I should speed up my timing to get 'er done before 5/1 or if I should expect that incentive to continue (or perhaps even get better)? Any advice from those that follow Hyundai incentives closer that I do would be appreciated. Thanks. | |

Anybody else watch King of Cars. I can't believe how many people negotiate in terms of car payment. THis is the single biggest mistake a person can make when negotiating a car price. Just way too many variables that go into a car payment to keep in control. I like the show, but I cringe when people are negotiating this way. |

I bought a sonata several days ago with OTD price which I negociated before I went in to buy it, and I was told by the dealer that they will mail all the documents to me in 3 weeks and then I will need to take the document to a tag agency to pay the TTL by myself. Thanks!
